Great car chase film on now

Post by DickieG »

Just been doing some channel hopping and came across "Ronin" on Sky Atlantic, a brilliant film if you like French cars and car chases, Xantia's and XM's all over the place :-D

In the big car chase through the streets of Paris, one of the many multiple pile ups has a red LHD Xantia with a UK reg piled into the back of a Pug 305 :?

Quite what the budget of this film must have been I dread to think, just the cost of the cars being totalled alone must have been enormous as it was filmed in 1998 yet many of the cars being wrecked could only have been a couple of years old then.

I'm not surprised.

As I live just around the corner from Pinewood Studios I see filming almost every day where I walk my dog, ATM one of the films being made is "Snow White and the Huntsman", two of the set's started to be made back in July which involved making plastic tree's in the middle of a forest (I kid you not) there have been literally dozens of men working on the sets ever since and still continue to do so to this day with fleets of buggy's, Lorry's, generators you name it lined up standing still for months, no wonder films cost so much to make.

Although some of the best (or at least decent) films have been made on a shoestring budget.
Any idea when Skyfall (latest Bond flick) is due for release?

No idea, I haven't seen anything of that one. There was another big budget film being made there very recently set in Japan in the 1700's I think, again a massive amount of equipment and people working on it for weeks, quite how that film got on with the odd plane flying low overhead on its approach to RAF Northolt should be interesting
