OK, xantia_v6 has the highest yellow marks up the wall so far. Can anyone better that?

Actually, as I said, that is an outstanding result. Quite often it slouches along at less than half a gig - dial-up speeds.
Almost always just after I have downloaded a new version of Ubuntu or Linux Mint.
I think that BT may be strangling the line. I have uncapped bandwidth, supposedly but who knows.
