GSF website revamp :(

Post by Xaccers »

Just wondered how much batteries were from GSF so popped along to their website.
Hmm, won't be using that much in the future, you now have to register and log in just to use the online shop.

Yep, I've voted with my feet on this one as well. WTF do I need to be
logged in for just to price some spark plugs etc - I use EuroCarParts now.

They did email me my registration details but I wasn't keen to activate
my 'account' - they then sent a follow up repeat wondering why I hadn't
bothered too. Big mistake on their part - I don't want to be all fuzzy and
cozy with them having all my Citroen predilections on file...

I registered for this last week and couldn't even find what I was looking for.

They should shoot the web developer that did that site! It's awful!

Funny you should mention ECP, new battry is less than £63 so as I'm heading over that way I think I'll pop in and get one.

I'll admit I'll still be a walk in at my local place as the guys know me as
I always seem go be in there - but I'm not going to be logged on their
system - ever. Some teat* with a new PC for Xmas has been let loose
on their old site and their new hard copy catalogue is too busy ignoring
anything older than 6 weeks old. I've seen some decent factors do this
and expand into bling to keep up with Halfrauds and go to the wall after
alienating their core customer base before.

Wonder if Vince has seen any change in attitude to GSF since they've
reinvented themselves?

* predictive text censoring me as well as the FCF doing a similar
expletive removal too - guy can't even show his anger towards
morons ruining something that wasn't broke to begin with...

I have no quarms about going to their shops, although the closest to me are Northampton or Luton, while ECP are just down the road and shortly will be in Bedford too which will be handy.
I know certain parts seem to be better quality from GSF (aux belt auto tensioner for instance) so I'd always head over to GSF or phone them (tell me you can still just phone up without needing to register?) and get it delivered.

Even ECP (with whom I still hold other grudges unresolved) have problems with their website.

The French ones ARE better! You get actual pictures by brand most of the time, actual part numbers by brand, and none of the patronising drivel ECP love to swaddle their bits in.

Some of us don't just want a certain part by type. We want an actual specified brand as well, and if you can't get that info online we take our purchases elsewhere.

I woudnt bother with a new battery again, £10 at my local scrap yard
bought a silverline Bosch one for the xm about a year ago at the tune of near £100 quid, then because the activa was done to a budget some secondhand parts were sourced, including a bosch silverline battery from my local scrapyard for £12 (£7 if i took my dead battery in as an exchange.

Its worth thinking about.

What have they done, is not a smart move doing that, letting a muppet redesign it to put in layers on the web site that will frustrate customers, and drive them elsewhere.

Yet if you want a two post lift, like we all do  then you can look at that without needing an account.

http://www.gsfcarparts.com/twopostlifts.html

Or if you want to look at jobs at GSF, and view the details, again no account needed!

If it isn't broke don't fix it!

I would have liked to have seen the job description for the I.T. pro!

That would make for interesting reading!

No, that's incorrect the two post ramp link loads straight away, I checked this before posting, and now again as you mentioned it!

The jobs, and their descriptions take time to load up, but will display like the equipment without the need to log in!

Steve was suggesting you need to be logged in to see the CV of the IT
whiz that's ferked up the GSF website and is single handedly driving
away customers.

Do you wonder why they're making you jump through such hurdles now
to gain access and in so doing succumb your PC and house address?
So that they "or their selected complimentary business partners" can
accurately pinpoint promotions and offers for your 'benefit'...

I work in design + advertising and your email address is a valuable commodity.
I personally don't want to be on their database no matter how great their
sales patter attempts to convince me I really need to join up. And can someone
answer why their twitter page links are all lazy blatant links to TopGear?

O.K. point taken ref the I.T. wiz, I read it quickly, and thought it was abstruse!

Well done to GSF HR for taking him on, not!
