I think you'll find upon crossing either border you'll find those that talk
'funny' and do indeed have big chips on their shoulders about Englishmen...

I've alwayas wanted to do this.

I'd dearly love to see some of Scotland as I've only ventured in the borders
area where my favourite Northumberland meets it where the scenery is a bit
more restrained and not as barren/raw as that found higher up. I've spent
a while over the years reading about the Western and Northern Highlands
and have been encouraged over that time by my father to go there as
he spent years touring the whole of Scotland on his BSA.

It'd be a major undertaking just getting from South Wales into the start of
Scotland in the first place before even getting further up! Is the plan for
booked B&B over a week or a thrash up and back over a few days then as
this obviously has an impact on any finances/disposable income!? :?

I know what you mean, I drove to Cardiff and back for a stag do and it was a major hike. Cardiff is a bit wild on a saturday night, good grief. Particuarly the Welsh ladies

I would suggest you come up and find accomodation in Glasgow, then meet with the rest of us. Use laterooms or a cheapie travel lodge, you should be able to sort something for £25-£30 a night. Applecross has a big campsite if you have a tent, or you can hire a "wigwam", which is like a big shed with heating, power and lights. These are only £11 per night per person and perfectly comfy. Bring a case of beer and some pot noodles in the boot, job done. I'm expecting the trip to be 3-4 days, but we'll see what everyone thinks. Of course people could come and go as they please, so some could go on elsewhere and others could go home.
