Very good, very good driving, but i would say the design of the bus has a lot to do with it. Heavy rear and rear drive, it doesnt look to have any problems at all. Dont know what the driver in that Disco is doing though, that should be able to pull the bus up there, let alone itself!
Steve, where is that?

I thought it was! Looks a bit different in the snow and that camera angle does nothing for the steepness of that hill, nor the tightness of the bends.myglaren wrote:Saltburn, just south of Redcar.
I was there just a few weeks back, driving the C1. They had covered the road in grit/salt, making it quite slippery.
That road often gets closed off in the snow, though its not very deep there.
Supposedly Guisbrough has a lot of snow at the moment, so Saltburn will be worse than it is there i bet.

In the above video?Ref wrote:do you call this snow?!! noobs J/K
No i wouldn't, its a light dusting. Ive heard they have around 10-14" of snow over that way now, so that is a little more like snow! Though some areas in Yorkshire and further North from me have much more.
Someone i know in Yorkshire has had 3-4ft of snow in places. They even had to abandon their Land Rover 130!
Its been snowing on and off here all day, though ive not ventured far in it today.

Yes, but which country do you live in?Ref wrote:well it has been -10 to -18 during the past 2 weeks here, had to dig out the car for the first few days and i really wonder how cold it will get through the next months!
In the UK, anything over 1mm of snow and the country grinds to a halt, with a lot of peoples cars seemingly falling off the roads
Some people you see driving in the snow should not even be driving a car in summer months. Totally clueless, flooring the throttle when they start to spin the wheels, cornering on full lock while bouncing up curbs thinking why isnt it turning. Ive seen it quite a lot these past few days. Usually the people who dont have a clue what to do in the snow are also the people on balded summer tyres too.
Its rare to get so much snow here, and some people are not prepared for it.

Finland but i'm not a fin so i had my time learning how to drive in this snowy conditions, best part is when the wheels spin forward while the car goees backwards it could happen while you're in a red light no brakes to save you just how much you learned in your physics classesCitroenmad wrote:Yes, but which country do you live in?Ref wrote:well it has been -10 to -18 during the past 2 weeks here, had to dig out the car for the first few days and i really wonder how cold it will get through the next months!

I just drove down to Tesco and back to get some supplies, the main roads which have now mostly been cleared of snow look very wet, however they are all just bright ice!
Really very bad driving conditions, just no grip at all on any of the more major roads around here. The side roads are slightly more grippy, as there is snow covering them.
Hopefully it will have thawed a bit by morning, or its going to be iteresting getting to uni tomorrow.

Not the obligatory snow 'panic' purchase of 10 loaves of bread, 50 litres of
milk and 200 kilos of salt? Everyone here usually does stripping the shelves
like locusts AND CHUCKING IT OUT a week later in the first refuse collection.

No, not quite, its still easy to get anywhere and ive not stopped going anywhere due to the weather. Just things we had ran out of, still plenty of bread and milk left on the shelves though!

2foot here so far and the freelander i have just keeps on going and pushing it aside
Think i'll be getting one next summer when it comes time for a newer vehicle as all it has missing for me is a snorkle
I think the driver had a massive advantage with so much weight over the rear wheels helping him up as the front does slip out a bit it seems.
I've seen lorries struggling to get up hills today and just breezed past them. The Xantia was good last snow fall as long as you took your time and didn't try to many drifting style corners

I didnt know you had a Freelander?
I wish we still had ours, it would have came in really handy. It was excellent in the snow.
