"Thunder Road"- but not Bruce's original: this one by Tortoise & Bonnie "Prince" Billy:

It's from one of my favourite albums, which I of course hated when I first heard it. That's usually how albums become favourites, I find.

Also- do you notice music is car-specific? I once drove across central London at rush hour in my old Merc (which design dates from the mid 70's), playing Miles Davis' "Bitches Brew", and it seemed so appropriate that it achieved that brilliant effect in me of turning the windscreen into a cinema screen: suddenly, I was in a 70's movie which Scorsese or de Palma may have been involved with, and white van man/minicab/bus driver infractions affected me not at all, as I drifted burblingly across town.

I doubt it would have made sense in a 90's Citroën, in which Charlotte Gainsbourg's 5:55 however seems terribly fitting..!

I wouldn't say 'pretty' but certainly quite attractive:

It appears the photographer left the heating off in the studio  and blew cold air at her!

A blast from the past................1986.

Although it's a MOTR, easy listening, lift music type of song so not exactly a strong tune with power etc to drive to!

It's a song that has a fitting title, for when you set off!

That was Bailey at work. I had a very well printed reproduction of the original but can't imagine where that went.

That photo was released in the Sunday Times in the late sixties and caused much concern, deemed rather inappropriate and more suited to Mr Hefner's journals.

It isn't apparent there but the original image quality, as you would expect of Bailey, is stunning.

This is not my usual choice but is an album I picked up in the library in 1990 (then bought the CD)
I chose it purely for the cover, not the best of reasons but it has paid off numerous times (and gone the other way just as often).

The whole album is OK but the track that stands out for me is the least 'driving' song on the album.

It is almost painful to here, creepy as can be.

Is perhaps a better stab at driving music.
