Fine by me Steve, Northbound Birch Services at 8am....If you want to set of earlier though thats fine by me also

thinking about it, it might work out better perhaps to set off earlier as i dont ever drive my Xantia fast...I usually travel between 65 and 70mph.....Thoughts?

Turned up there at 09:00 and the place was all but deserted.
Guy in the admin centre said they don't show up until around tea-time.
Went home and bought some tyres instead.

Ah, yes, usually friday evening people who are camping turn up.

Often there is a good number of cars and people (weather depending) by lunch time saturday, but the best day to go is usually always sunday.

Snap, i got tyres today too. £266 for a pair of Michelins

Not sure what im taking tomorrow, if i get up early ill give the Xm a clean and give that a run down, as if not had time to clean it. If not ill be in my C5. Will be following my dad down in the traction if anyone sees us :)

I'll keep an eye out for the Traction :)

I paid the princely sum of £42 for a pair of ??????? tyres at a part worn place - I dropped in to Bishop Aukland again to try and locate the scrapyard with a view to buying an alloy wheel to substitute for my spare, as I have no bolts for the steel spare.
They were on an '03 Exclusive and completely different so that plan died in flames.
At the entrance to the scrappy was this tyre place. One tire would have got me jailed after the run to Wetherby. I manaded to get a pair of 205/65 15's and discovered that the Klebers fitted by ATS were only 195s :(
I don't want to ruin decent tires and need to discover the cause of the premature wear.

As expected the guy couldn't balance the new tyres but being legal was more of an issue.
As it happens they are fine - I had noticed the beginnings of a tremor at around 70mph this morning and that is gone now. Car feels better too but that is likely wishful thinking.

Ill be in what ever car is near the traction

195s are the tyre size for earlier the hatchback C5, estate had the 205 size.

One of my front tyres was giving up and distorting and the other one was very worn out. So thought i best get some for this weekend. Didnt really go out to get michelins as the cost is silly but they are what should be on. I could have got a set of 4 michelins for the SX for that much though!

Mine need rebalancing, going to leave them till tuesday and get the rears balanced too. They usually say leave them to settle for a few hundred miles. This garage can never seem to get balancing right, might have to try elsewhere.

Whats your C5 wearing its tyres like? Is the toe out to make them scrub out quicker?

When the Klebers went on I had the tracking done on a laser rig and there hasn't been a problem until fairly recently.

I had an advisory on the MOT last September that a lower ball joint was worn. Took it in recently to get it replaced and they could find nothing wrong with any of the steering or suspension components/joints.

Since then it has worn rapidly. I was hoping to use it over the weekend and replace the tyres next weekend but the trip to Wetherby and back killed it.

The last pair went on on July 1st '08. Failed to record the mileage at the time but they have done around 13,000 miles.

Two proud C6 owners.

Wonderful car this (Trainman's).
I was permitted a drive and am immensely impressed with it. Quiet, smooooooth, powerful and very agile.
Don't transport any eggs in one until you are used to the brakes!

Very nice to meet Trainman and Vince, plus renew acquaintance with several others, including Paul (citroenxm) and Allan.

Managed to miss Chris (citroenmad) but may be able to rectify that tomorrow.

There was a lad about your age with this, that he had just purchased:

Thought afterwards that it might have been you.
