Classic Car show , NEC today.

Post by HDI »

Well I was there today , had a cruise around the Citroen stands. As has been mentioned the 2CV prototype was there , very interesting. Had a mad thought as I was looking at it , would be cool to make a replica !!
Would love to drive around in it 8)

Also there was a White DS claimed to be the best DS in the world with the owners valuation of £55,000 !!! The DS is a wonderful car but no way is any version worth £55k !! This wasn't even a Pallas.

Good show though and being a bike nut I enjoyed the classic bike section very much apart from the blaring 50's Americana music !!

I was meant to be going down today but TBH i cant afford it

£18 to get in, £20 in diesel and £8 parking = £46 just to get there and in. Ive only got £40

I just know that i would be weeping when i got to the autojumble and wasnt able to buy anything :)

Next year i will save up a bit and go down with £100 or so

It's definitely not cheap !! Another expense is food. One reason I go to shows is to get a deal or two on diecast models and I did get a couple of gems yesterday !

Nope , I never bother with pix at shows !! Too many people getting in the way , rubbish lighting and you can never get the right angle !!

Well i was there both Saturday and Sunday, a great show as ever.

The white DS is stunning, you will not find a better car, and i know it was valued at much more than that. If you look at the detail, its just perfect, the stickers under the bonnet, the under sie of the car, the interior. Its all just perfect. Its won many concours events, not just Citroen ones but country wide ones. Though really its too good to ever use, no one else would be able to keep it as nice as Len does.

I took lots of pictures, the CCC stand was very good, really enjoyed looking at all of the prototypes and the Bijou. Ill post up some pictures next week, as my internet is down at home i cant upload them until monday.

I went to the last MPH topgear live show on Saturday, which was again very good, however a little tame compared to previous years.

Did anyone see the new Citroen DS3? I had a good look around it and sat in ever seat  Really nice little car i think. The Citroen GT was also there, thats quite something too.

The traction stand was another good one, hopefully we will have ours there next year, all being well.

We did take the C5 estate in the end, it performed great, even with 4 people and loads of luggage it got 50MPG over the 400 miles. First good run ive had in it.

Had a great weekend, looking forward to next year!
