XM broken ? pipe / front brakes

Post by edgeone »

Trying to renew front pads I noticed a rubber ? pipe that appeared to be broken - brakes / suspension are working properly with no sign of any LHM leakage - I have emailable photos - also front brake calipers are meant to swing up to remove pads - I could only get them halfway - with handbrake cable disconnected - can't figure out what's stopping movement - is there a trick to this ?
Thanks

The pipe you've seen is likely a feed wire for the wear sensors that plug onto
the pads one end and onto the clips at the edge of the wheelarch on a
mounting bracket. Without seeing it, I'd say there's not a lot to worry
about here - especially as you say brakes (and ABS?) are working OK.

The caliper should freely swing upwards - mind undoing just the lever end
won't be enough - you'll need to remove the handbrake cable end fully out
of the caliper.

if its not as Andrew says it could also be the leg vent/leakage return pipe, which should be attatched to the rubber block at the rear face of the susp strut
