A CCC NSW member is taking his Traction Big 6 to Europe to go to the 75th anniversary of the Traction Avant at Arras in June. He is currently trying to find insurance for it while it is in Europe for a few weeks. Of course it will be there on one of those temporary carte things and will be running on Australian registration.
The member has contacted Australian insurance companies who of course want nothing to do with it.
The best thing would be to insure it with a European company while he is there.
Has anyone any experience or knowledge in this area that they can offer?
The car will arrive in Southampton and go to Europe via the tunnel. It will be driven in Europe for about three months before returning.
Please post details of companies that may be able to assist.

The fact that it's on Aussie plates shouldn't be a problem. I know insurers in Ireland have the capability of issuing a policy via the VIN number as opposed to the reg number, so I'd assume UK insurers can do likewise.

There was a guy from Australia who brought his Slough DS over to Europe for the 50th Jubilee, on the UK CCC forum he had the user name of "Buttercup Bob", maybe its worth having a poke around the Aussie DS sites (he was quite busy on the CCC forum around May 2005) to see whether you can find him for advice.
Here's a picture of him with his DS http://www.citroencarclub.org.uk/PostNu ... 67&mid=645

Yes Bob has already been asked and supplied some information. Thanks.
It is a challenge for anyone bringing a car to Europe for purposes such as this. Aus companies seem to cater for it. We have our fair share of "round the world trippers".
A couple of years ago a couple of Dutchmen brought a DS21 Cabriolet to Australia for a tour. What a way to travel!
(BTW - the link only works for members of CCCUK)

Have you enquired with Footman James?
My son in law has several cars insured through them and they seem to be a pleasure to deal with and the chrges are reasonable.
