I certainly dont want Mr JW to pay a fee 3 times the amount I sent - to receive my mediocre donation

Is this true also if you have a Visa account directly hooked to the PP account ?
In my case I can pay any amount I want to thru PP - because PP makes a direct draw on my Visa account.

Right, gonna try to get mine sorted, bit dubious about paypal though - don't want any fees being applied and I've never trusted paypal anyway.

Can I do this at my bank? I would like to reimburse Jon as well as contribute to the forum upkeep, should I wait until the forum account is open for that one?
Toby

You best check with PP's T&C's for a definative answer but a lot of people hate using PP because of the fees they levy. As a seller on Ebay, any PP's made to me with a credit card carries a small percentage fee so don't worry about not having sent enough AndersDK, I'm sure it's plenty.

I fund my PP account directly from my Bank Account which is linked to my VISA DEBIT card and they are treated as Instant Cash Payments and carry no fee.

Maybe weety is right in that fees can also be circumvented by your selection of payment type?

According to http://ppcalc.com/ a paypal payment of £10 from Australia would break down as follows,

22.38 AUD
22.38 AUD = 10.9 GBP (1 AUD = 0.48694 GBP)
- 0.27 GBP (2.5% Currency Conversion Fee)
- 0.43 GBP (3.9% PayPal transaction fee)
- 0.20 GBP (PayPal fixed fee)
= 0.90 GBP (PayPal Fees)
= 10.00 GBP (Amount Received)

I'm not sure how reliable this information is but if it's correct it doesn't seem too bad.
It doesn't look as if there's any great economy to be had by clubbing together.

In any case it's great to know there's interest on the other side of the globe.

 That's far worse than I imagined (just 3.9%) so I hope I'm right in thinking those fees are only for Sellers (ie Ebay) with a Paypal Business Account.

I'm afraid I'm no expert on paypal Mike --- I normally only use it to buy things on eBay.
It would be nice if they only charged the 2.5% currency conversion fee for personal transfers.

Many thanks for your generosity Toby_HDi, we now have 22 affirmations,
