Think about a more roomy, more comfortable, prettier Xantia and you're most of the way there.

I've been tempted by the XM but I think that when the Xantia goes, it'll be replaced by a C5.

WHAATTT!

A local Xm I haven't heard about!! Which local garage is this? A brave one!

OK, being serious for a mo Craig, I'd happily check it out for you and my
turning up in mine may scatter a few pigeons too. I keep saying if there's
anything about these you need info/help with, I'm 2 miles away and have
a load of them to unload too...

Yes, I know you'll like it - it comes with suspension for a start!

Craig,

Welcome back :D "Hotel California" strikes again!

Explanation: the Eagles' classic song Hotel California contains the lyric "You can check out any time you like but you can never leave"

Sums up Citroen ownership perfectly

You'll love an XM!

I think I'm being misquoted here!?

The SAAB doesn't come with any suspension worth mentioning,
but the hydraulically suspended one's will!! Including the Xm's...

So there!!

I may be wrong but -- Doesn't the XM have the reputation for being unreliable and very hard to work on?

The nub of the matter is as follows. The XM to me is that its going to be the pinnacle of my Citroen ownership, so atm I aspire to own one (still with me?). But, like what happened to Dei - if I buy one and dont get on with it then thats the XM dead to me. Its like when you finally drive your dream car and it's not as good as you thought and thats your dream car shot down in flames.

And as to Andrew's question about said XM its just outside Kidwelly. I spotted it a week or so ago and am going to have to make plans to get back down that way and have a look at it. You may well be getting a PM from me about a small roadtrip

Im rambling now due to having undertaken a huge roadtrip over the last two days, so if you will excuse me I think im going to go to sleep for about 20 hrs

They say you should never meet your heroes...

Sadly XMs are getting to the age now where the majority will treat them badly because they're not worth a whole lot of money. They're on the decline and if you don't buy one now you may find later on that there isn't a nice one that anybody will part with for a reasonable amount of money. You're going to have to look hard for a nice XM and look after it carefully otherwise you'll be disappointed.
