I tried uploading an avatar (less than 120pixels and only 4KB) but despite the lower page telling me it was successful the top of the page contained this...

I'm aware of this
Even as an admin I'm unable to put an avatar up for myself. Strangely, new members can (i.e. those who have joined since the hosting move) but those of us who joined prior to November 2007 cannot
I'll have a go at reproducing the problem on my test rig (I think I know what the problem is) and then have a word with our webmaster. The BXC has the same issue.
Unfortunately, I have no access to the web servers. Databases only for me and that it is not a database problem as the avatar files are stored on the web server.

I tried to upload several different avatars conforming to the specified file size and dimensions yesterday but it wasn't having it, same erors as above. So then I uploaded a couple to my photobucket account and used the "link to off-site avatar" field, so now I've got a larger than 6kb animated gif 8) 8)

Off with his head!
I keep getting asked repeatedly to log in, then it won't recognise my username & password.
Haven't decided if this is a Safari problem - not happening anywhere else though.
A Vista problem - I have a new Wifi Router and associated phones that has been going a bit haywire - I am now a BT Openzone Hotspot. Thanks, BT.
Or a board problem - only the Admins will know that.

Not guilty m'lud I know we're dealing in French matters on this forum but surely threatening the admins with a gullotine is a bit drastic I feel an entry in the ban list coming on....myglaren wrote:

Yes, it is. The webserver serves both the BX Club forum and this forum amongst others and both the BXC and FCF share the same IP address. At times, for reasons best known to the hosts, it occasionally looses the plot and throws up the login box. I've thought and thought of a plausable explanation but never found one that completely satisfies me.DickieG wrote:I just had the same problem on XP, apparently its a webserver glitch.
I did offer a thought here but as I say, It is, at best, a guess.
It's something we have to live with unfortunately
