I have heard of a "Vim re-bore" before...my mate told me about it as he has seen his dad do it on an old wagon many many years ago...
Remember this dates back a good few years...
When the engine was past its best & you couldn't get it to start from cold without having to light a fire in the air filter housing...the trick was to give the engine a re-bore with Vim...you remember Vim don't you...yes that's right it was scouring powder
The trick was to get the engine hot then rev it up & hold the revs on while your mate threw a handful of vim up the air intake....this was done a few times.
Obviously the idea was that the Vim would scuff up the bores enough to let the rings bite again & hopefully raise the compression to aid cold starting.
Whether it worked of not is another question of course.
