After getting my car back from the garage, I noticed the bonnet did not shut properly and one side was not flush with the wing. I couldn't face going back to the garage to complain so left it a few days untill it bothered me enough to have a look. Found a screw driver down one side in the gap where it shuts. Shuts fine now.
Anyone else gained any tools or extras from garages? Gained a French menu translation book when I bought the C5. I guess it used to go across to France.
How many tools have you gained?

when i twere a young lad me and my mate would always rescue damsels in distress when their cars broke down.....we would always leave phone numbers (in case the car broke down again) and a screwdriver rattling somewhere (just to encourage future contact to return the tools)
good plan...flawlessly executed .....totally unsuccessful

All I've ever found is a nice stubby screwdriver, still in productive use today

My wife (was only girlfriend at the time) got a car and after a while said to me - 'there is a clunk at the back'. So I gave it a rock - clunk-clunk. Looked under the rear wheel arch and found a monkey wrench clamped round the shock half way down and clanking against the spring either side of it.
Cheers,
Rowan.

when you took it of did part of the shock come with it?rowanmoor wrote:My wife (was only girlfriend at the time) got a car and after a while said to me - 'there is a clunk at the back'. Surprisingly no. It was a new shock (in order to sell the car no doubt). The other side needed replacing a year or so laterweety wrote:when you took it of did part of the shock come with it?
The really mad thing is when we replaced the car we got the new one from the same place. It had 40K on it when we got it (yea, right - it was 8 years old), and we have since had a head gasket, new radiator, new clutch, wheel held on with the wrong size nuts and it still needs a new heater matrix and the roof is rusting under the paintwork.
You'd have thought I'd have learnt the first time

Though we didn't exactly gain the tool, we did have a similar situation with the CX.
Mum took it to the dealer to get some parts for the Dyane and when she was about to leave the CX wouldn't start.
The service manager as a gallant gesture rushed out, cleaned the plugs and slammed the bonnet down.
Anyway, when she got back dad noticed the headlight was cracked, opened the bonnet and found a foot long plug spanner trapped between the headlight and bonnet
The dealer gave us a new headlight for us to fit but took a little while to get round to it.
When we came to do the job, we found the guy had ordered the wrong one and these were not stock items
Moral "The road to hell is paved with good intentions"
All the best,
Kristian.
