OK... I'll re-phrase :)

The plastic interior much like the god awful plastic sh1t fitted to the BX curls up in the sun and breaks. My dash is developing it's 2nd big crack now  The quality of the plastic used in the 80's Citroens is appalling. It basically just curls up (cracking in the process) then turns brittle and smashes.

and of course, lots of old Citroens, slowly rusting away in pieces ;)

Buy a shed, run it for six months for the experience and the learning curve which is steep. If you like it, save up £7-10,000 and buy a good one. Break shed for spares.

I read "Get a shed" and thought you meant litterally ... The whole message made no sense to me ... You can't drive a shed, but you can certainly park a car in it

I think I have sheds on the brain. I'm to tight to pay for a post hole digger so I have about 1dozen footing holes to dig ... 600mm x 30mm so I can chuck up an old shed in my backyard (a shed... you know one of those things you can park 1/2dozen cars in, not drive :D).

BTW: 7-10,000pounds for a CX    It would have to be a fully galvanised RHD CX GTi Turbo II Prestige with only 25kms (ie: not run in yet) to be worth that much 8-[ 8-[

That is what you'd have to pay to get the sort of car you'd want to keep Shane. Over here most CXs are rubbish YES,I SAID RUBBISH because the rust is in them. The very few nice cars are not for sale unless the money is silly and you can buy the same car for £1000 that you can for £4000. THe only one worth buying long term is the very best available and it is not going to be cheap. It will be cheaper though than a restoration job and a lot less frustrating.
It ain't what it is worth, it is what it costs. I wouldn't pay that for one. They're good but not that good.

Yes, in a perfect world Cx's would be galvanised but the sad reality is they
weren't. Furthermore, I cannot live in a fantastically hot arrid & therefore
rustfree environment.

If I did, I'd be moaning about splitting plastic dashboards and inferior interiors!

But to say most Cx's here in the UK are "rubbish" is an insult to those
who own maintain and cherish WHATEVER we do have hold of, with and
EVEN without rust! In fact, as far as I'm concerned, ANY CX in the UK is
great, as this means it hasn't been scrapped - and that's got to be good! :D

Tom - nobody is forcing you to buy a Cx you know!
