...........DER !

Post by ACTIVE8 »

So, in this case the HDI should apply to the seller.

In this case the HDI stands for (H)is (D)ensity (I)ndicator.

It's the most obvious, and simplest thing to understand about current diesel engines that they are designated HDI, or in some cases CDI.

If the seller can't be trusted to get an easy thing right, then how can they be trusted with something more complex, and difficult.

It would only have taken a very small amount of time for the seller to establish what the model range is, and what engines that are fitted to the Xantia.

It probably took more time to do the ebay listing, and now what with posting an update into the auction, even more time.

If you are going to do something then you might as well do it right in the first place, unless you are trying to con people.

.........DOH !!

Also looking at the picture of the engine bay below, it stands out like a sore thumb/finger, (something the seller now must have, from all the extra typing that he must be doing) quite clearly that is a petrol engine !

To be honest I first skim read through most of the listing without even realising it had a petrol engine. It was only when I looked at the pic of the engine bay and it was obviously a petrol that I re-read the text. I'm usually pretty meticulous reading these things & if I missed it then I bet a few others will too, particularly anyone who's not very familiar with PSA engines.

He clearly is stupid. If he'd just put the thing on as 2.0 16V petrol & set a sensible reserve in the first place he would probably have sold it by now. By continuing with this "HDi", "selling for a friend who can't find the service history blah blah blah" nonsense, and sending rude replies to potential bidders he just arouses suspicion over what may otherwise be a perfectly ok petrol Xantia!

Yes indeed, the same place as where all the pens, odd socks, clips that ping off, washers that disappear and winning lottery tickets are.
