Gorgeous colour - very SM 70's chic!

Penny whotserface from the old Ch4 Driven recently aired a CX as a great alternative prospect for those who dare on a random Sky channel - it came through very favorably.

I reckon you could easily buy and run a CX or DS, or possibly even SM, for the money involved in a new-ish "prestige" car. The depreciation and servicing money could easily keep a Citroen in tip-top condition and reliable, especially with the amount of time modern cars seem to spend in garages getting gremlins sorted out.

That way the Joneses wouldn't be able to decide if you were keeping up with them or not.
