Those 406 jets you fitted, Did they have a single slot for the water to spray out from or was there 2 little holes?

92 pence each?! i payed more than that i think,

my jets are a nice spread spray, completely different to the original jets on my zx. my only beef with them is they shoot quite low, although i havent actaully gone to play with if they have adjustable aim.

Lee. They have two tiny lil pipes sticking out of the ends of each jet, not a tiny door shaped exit like the Xsara jets.. :(

I had to mod the pipe connections as well as the 406 connection on the back of the jet is too big for the original washer pipe as fitted to my ZX.. :(

Light- No easy way to adjust them for height that I can see.. What model car were the ones you have intended for originaly? And, what shape are the exit holes? Tiny twin pipes or door shaped?

It sounds like those 406 jets AINT mist ones, The mist jets have a single slot for the water to come out from.

i dont know what car mine were ment to be for but i just walked into my local peugeot dealer and asked for two of the following part number 6438h0 (thats a zero at the end) and they dont have two nozzles and give a "fan/mist" like spray , as promised ill get hold of the photo tomorrow of their jet characteristics and what the units actually look like.

Cheers lightning :) I collected the jets today using your part number. Price £5..60p for the pair, including vat. :)

They ARE mist jets and they DO fit the ZX. Nice one, thanks.. :) *puts drill back in box*

Right now, my car is covered in snow! it snowed here for about 40 mins and left a covering about an inch deep.. So fitting them will have to wait for better weather..

Soon be spring though :) :)

Well the mist jets are finaly in place on my ZX and working well. :) >> pugeot part number 6438h0<<

I had to break off the rearmost plastic "leg" on the jet, this allowed me to insert the hook that I was left with into the bonnet hole, then pull the jet back far enought to push the front bit up into the hole against the underside of the bonnet, I then pushed the jet forward whilst keeping the front hard up against the underside of the bonnet, untill the front 'clicked' into place. Job done.. :D

The jet direction is a bit low on the screen. It would be possible to adjust its direction by filling the bit at the front that contacts the bonnet with a flat swiss file. i.e. make it thinner, thus allowing the front to move upwards.. But it works very well on my car due to having such a wide spray. so I wont be changing anything. :)

Argh! I spoke too soon!   When I do more than 40 mph ish my jets barely make the bottom of the screen! Must be the airflow keeping the water down.. :(

Sooo. Now I will have to sort out how to adjust them so they hit the screen much further up, can't look at the moment as it's been raining here on and off all day.. :(

I will let you know how I get on....

For those who like to personalise their cars, it would be easy to fit one Xsara mist jet centrally on a ZX and draw attention to the unusual feature of it having only one wiper.. :D

The Xsara mist jets are not the usual round blob, they are about 1/2 inch wide, and taper from thin at the front to thicker at the back by the exit hole, they actually look quite nice in my opinion.. :D

Update.. The back of the jet (furthest from screen when in place) is held in by an upside down shaped plastic 'tick'.. The short leg restricts it from moving downward. So I cut about a 64th of an inch off of it, and that has allowed the back edge to move downward, thus raising the position that the water from the jet hits my screen.. It works fine now. :-)
