Where Is This Citroen Now ?

Post by ACTIVE8 »

Recently this car was seen on The Return Of The Saint which stared Ian Ogilvy, the car is a CX Estate the registration is PYR 732R, and on the RAC site comes up with this data.

PYR 732R
Manufacturer CITROEN
Model CX SAFARI 2400
Body type ESTATE
Colour WHITE
Fuel type PETROL
Date manufactured 31 December 1977
Number of previous owners 4
Last owner change 10 February 2003

I wonder if anyone has come across the car since it appeared on T.V. :)

Also as a matter of interest the car that Ian Ogilvy used in this T.V. series, which was a newer version of the original previous series that starred Roger Moore, was a white Jaguar XJS the registration number ST 1, though now appears to have been placed on a different car. :(

ST 1
Manufacturer SUBARU
Model IMPREZA WRX TURBO
Body type 5 DOOR HATCHBACK
Colour BLACK
Fuel type PETROL
Date manufactured 30 October 2003
Number of previous owners
Last owner change

It's great to see that it's still about, and hopefuly it's being looked after.

Hello folks,

Well it's taken 7 years to appear but here she is. The story goes that the owners husband owns an immaculate DS and his wife asked him to buy a big car to use in their fields. She was expecting a Land Rover or similar but oh no, her husband brings back a 35 year old Citroen, one of 8 2400's and the only 2400 Safari in the UK. As far as I am aware they still own the car but I am not sure, I will ask next time I see them. It is currently taxed and with it's fifth owners. What episode was it seen in?

Well not quite, I only learnt of it's involvement earlier this evening having searched the registration number on Google, pure chance that I know the owner and that she drove it to my home that one time.

Good spot! I wouldn't take the How Many Left site as gospel though as it's definitely not the only one left...

They are rare though...!

 at the pop-up sunroof!

The sunroof is a bit of a shame unless it was installed at the factory, looks to be squint too but that could be the perspective.

Don't believe you could get a factory sunroof in a Safari/Familiale so definitely retro fitted...

Bit of a shame then, I've never been a fan of retro fitted and glass sunroofs, sliding sunroofs are the best! Does anyone know what sort of fuel economy this thing would get? (2.5 diesel)

Thanks for the reply, and information it's good to find out what happened to it.

I saw the episode at the time of posting, but only from part of the way through it, so I did not get the name of the episode at the time, although I will search around and see if it turns up!

Regarding the picture of it painted black, is that from another film?

I ask because I think I saw it on the Saint (several years ago now :) ) in white.

I suppose it's to be expected a Scoobydo owner was going to want to use the ST 1 reg off the Jag, and then not drive it like a Saint! :)

It was in the 1978 episode "The Arrangement", as pictured above.

I always wanted the ST1 as my private plate, however it's probably worth more than my house.
