Treated my Xantia to a new set of Michelin Energys today(205/60/15),after wearing out the Firestones that i had fitted last time.WOW,what a difference. The car is alot smoother,(like its had new spheres!)hardly any tyre noise, much better. The Firestones were good, but had a bit more cash this time so got the Energy`s.£14 each more that the Firestones.Cheapest online price was £68 full fitted at home for H rated,£69 all in for V rated at my local tyre place.Bargain i thought
I`m going to have a go at doing my front spheres in the next few weeks,as i now think the time has finally come(over 4yrs & 52k miles later ).So i`ll be looking for a lend of a removal tool to make life easy. Will post about that nearer the time.

Citroens prefer michelins from 2CV through to C5, the end.
Mind you the owners wallets are notso keen

"Rust Never Sleeps" said Neil Young. Did he own old citroens?

Have heard that said many a time.My Dad swears by them, has had them on all of his cars,Xantia & 406`s inc.I`ve had 2 sets of Firestones on the Xantia(185`s & 205`s)without problems. The`ve lasted quite well considering the wide range of driving i do inc loads of wheel spinning on building sites & quarrys etc.Last year they were £50 each for 205`s,while the Michelins were about £90.Now the`ve come down,& the Firestones have gone up.Stinkwheel wrote:Citroens prefer michelins from 2CV through to C5, the end.

Just come back from taking the wife & friends into town.It was sooo smooth along the motorway on the way home.
Cant wait for the rears to wear out now,as i`ll definatly stick with Michelins now .

The original tyres on my Xantia were Michelins MXV-3 that were noisy going straight ahead, but quiet on curves.bxbodger wrote:I thought energy's were a very noisy tyre!! Our Kia came with them from new, albeit they're fat ones on a porky mpv, and the tyre roar is phenomenal!!!!
The next set were Goodyears that were vague and causing floating steering at speed.
The current set are MXV-3A's made in Japan that are quiet on the straight, but noisy in curves.
Coming after the Goodyears, they are so good that I could already feel the difference when steering out of the tyrekicker's yard.

i get michelin tyres from Costco.
£50 for a michelin tyre for a Peugeot 306 HDi, can't remember the exact sizes, but they're 14" alloys.
My dad got tyres for his V6 406 Coupe from there and they were much cheaper too, £150 a tyre from kwik fit, and £100 a tyre in Costco for Pilot Primacy's.
Regards
David.
