Mega-expensive BX!!

Post by bxbodger »

Todays Telegraph motoring-possibly the first and only BX appearance in the Telegraph.
Bonhams Monaco branh are auctioning a BX 4TC, a group B homologation car, it was owned by Jean-Pierre Beltoise and the estimate is £10,000-£14,000!!!!![:0] I wonder where the other 199 are?
2.2 litre, 300bhp, and only 110 miles on the clock!!! It was a sad day when group B was banned- it took all the entertainment out of rallying for years.....

Worth every penny!
Last one I saw for sale was £20,000. A Le Mans winner's documented usership to boot (As he would have done himself,)makes that sound like a pessimistic reserve. I wouldn't be surprised if it went a good bit higher, especially with the popularity of classic rallying.

Quick translation from the French catalogue:
Constructed on the basis of the BX five door and ratified for the season 1986, the BX 4TC is a racing car which marks the unique adventure of Citroën in the World Rally Championships group B. It was powered by a 2.2 L turbo borrowed from the Talbot Tagora, developing 300 horses.
A 6th place in the rally of Sweden shows that she could be competitive, but the regulation which banished the B group at the end of the year 1986 condemned this machine to the scrapyard. This very rare 4TC, one of the few to have escaped among the 200 constructed copies, was delivered to Beltoise by Citroën Competition in 1985.
The car is almost new, displaying 180km only, but the owner made it regularly start up.
Estimate €15 000- 20 000
