petrol station induced heart attack!!!

Post by caveman_si »

I know its been done to death but i just have to share my shock at a fuel price i saw at the weekend.
While in the Peaks i drove past a garage in "Newhaven" (i think) north of Ashbourne and had to slow down to double check the price. Which was shock in itselfs as it was a nice entertaining drive i was having
96.9p/l for either diesel or petrol!!!!!
makes me glad i live near a cheapish petrol station in liverpool.

the thing i dont understand is why the prices are differet in other places, sureley the use and sales of petrol should be around about the same figure wherever you are. looks like its almost time for the newhaven trukkies to start the blockades!

Supply and demand- perhaps there's nowhere else to go, a local cartel, or people are just happy to pay that price.
There's a garage near me who charge a similar price, who's main business is tyres but they have a bit of a specialist fuel market- they still do attended service so they get a lot of pensioners go there who maybe only fill up once every couple of months and are happy to pay extra for someone to pump the fuel in for them.

thats the thing people aren't happy to pay the price of fuel but we have no choice, the only way to sort it is for people to start driving miles out of their way to the cheapest petrol even if its only a couple of pence. but this isn't very likely to happen is it

I add two miles to my journey once every 9 working days, to save a penny or two.
When you consider that's 2 miles on 600 (less than 1/3rd of a percent) to save 1 penny in 85, (more than 1%) it's worth while doing it (must be saving me £12 a year or so...).

Swored I'd never pay more than £1.25 a gallon back in 1985. Who's crying now eh, yep that's wright me. Come the revolution I'll pure a gallon on the House of commons.
