VOSA strikes back....

Post by bxbodger »

Just for once, they are doing what we want them to do!!!
They have targeted untaxed cars in Leyton and Leytonstone, East London, over the last few days and I have seen hundreds, one or more cars up virtually every street with a BIG strong clamp on them, not the rubbishy council one that they just break off!!!
The lift trucks have been very busy, and it look like a real clean-up.
I walked by one, a ZX Volcane, which was clean, straight, and clearly in every day use, but had a tax disc over a year out of date!!
Some are obvious clunkers which have been left to rot where they died, but many, like the ZX are obviously used on a regular basis. The scummers may not have registered them and will never pay the fines, but at least for a few days they will be inconvenienced, and will lose their car to the crusher.......

as the very good tv advert goes, if they dont tax them, do they mot them and then do they insure them...although i question the advert showing the rear end of an immaculate looking 3 door sierra cosworth in a dodgy estate. Only time that would occur would be if it was stolen and dumped there, they are worth a lot these days :)

Its good to see a clampdown on the untaxed and most likely uninsured vehicles, more of this would be a good thing. Tax a year out of date is taking the p***.
I saw a rather rough looking 4 door Sierra Cosworth with "For Sale" notices in it, asking price £3995.
I was thinking "what planet is he on" at the time, you could get a decent Scooby or Evo for that money.

I know its mad. The 3 door ones are madly more expensive, a mint one can go for 15K ! and an RS500 limited one can go for more!!
I bought a japanese car mag last month and it had a impreza 20 page buying guide etc. No idea how many models there were. Whereas we got the shoddy 212bhp version most of the time with a few special ones, most of the japanese ones were 240 then 276bhp. Different models had different gearboxes, suspension setup etc, would quite fancy one as they sound they make is great. Only thing that puts me off slightly is whenever im at my local garage round the corner, hes always got one in with dead big ends, highlight being a 17K old 52reg one :) They have to be treated right apparently with fuel/ correct oil/warmed up etc

A bloke at work has a F/G reg 2WD sapphire cossie.330bhp,big wheels & brakes.Apart from that,it`s standard & in good condition.Has an agreed insurance valulation of £7500!!!Take the engine & Recaro seats out & all you have is a Sierra Ghia.£7500!Look what else you could buy for that money.
There`s so many untaxed cars around my area in daily use.Only ever seen 1 with a ticket on it.

Have recently read somewhere that the govt is thinking of making it an offence to not have insurance registered at the same address as the car's registered address.

All cars are worth what the market dictates. I personally think Beetles are rubbish, but a good one gets good money.
In the late seventies, when I started driving, I desperately wanted a Mk2 Escort RS2000, guess what, I still can't afford one!!!!

Keep your dreams low key! I always wanted a 2cv. Goal achieved. Many times.
I always wanted a Land Rover too. Thank goodness I still can't afford one!

Chap I worked with had one of the first UK STi's (3 dr)...it didn't make it to its first service before needing a new engine! He did know about mechanical sympathy, owning a HSR Chevette as well, but did like racing 1000cc+ bikes on a regular basis.

I too have also always wanted a Mk 2 RS2000, and agree that the good ones are too expensive !
Here's one that's expensive !

Mind you it's a custom X-pack, and is therefore more rare.
In the start sequence of the T.V. series Minder there was a shot of Arthur Daley's car lot, and they had an X-pack RS 2000 amongst the other cars. [:D] [8D]
It also looks like the seller has had some timewasters bidding for it !

MK II RS2000, I blame "The Professionals" myself-Doyle drove one and it was always so much better looking and cooler than Bodie's Capri!!!

Before I found that X-pack RS2000, I looked at a lot of less cared for examples.
Looking through the sellers feedback shows that he has sold many RS2000's, and the parts for them. [:D] [8D]
