Male 47, '99 Xantia Hdi 110, fully comp with commuting for me and my bride, was quoted £600 by Churchill, my previous insurer, but got it down to £405 with AON.
Our previous 1.8 16v Xantia that was written off in an accident cost £280 pa fully comp. When I switched to the Hdi it jumped to £600, even though I didn't lose any NCD.
Shocking!
XANTIA INSURANCE (again) what do u pay?

314GBP. for my 2.1 Xantia estate. Parked on drive in north Surrey. Maximum no claims with protected bonus. One speeding ticket, private and leisure use only, owner only driver, 10K per annum, age 'old'!, IAM membership, and a chipped engine (which hasn't been declared. My policy allows for 60 days Continental Comp. Insurance.
In my case, it´s the Continental cover which can make a great difference in quotes. For instance, Churchill can quote less than the 314, but with no cover for abroad.

Well i have just discovered something very interesting with my insurance!!
I am with direct line and just for comparison i got a quote on an h reg renault 5 1.4 with my usual fc 70k pa cover and it would cost £430
I then got a quote with the same terms but on an r reg Jaguar XJS 3.2 straight 6 exectutive and they came back with £491
It seems ver strange that there is so little difference no matter what car size or engine size i get, they just seem to charge me about the same and it doesnt seem to matter what i drive

I've found my insureence to be very weird, i havent got my full licence (i'm 26 but untill 2 years ago didnt want to know about cars, and now i live them!), but will have shortly (shut up vanny befor you say anything). I've been looking in depth at quotes with lots of diferent cars. for a 1.3 E red escort 4 door the best quote i got was £1100, however for a 2.1 td Xantia VSX its £810 the 306 XSi i got rid of was quoted at £830 an activa is £2500 and unfortunatly my V6 activa is £3100!!! so my dad will be insuring the V6 at £258 for him (56) and the main driver and my self as the seccondary and I will be using the 2.1 for day to day driving. all these quotes are baised on 10k a year social and comuting and my parents live in the same area as me so that shows you how much getting my dad to insure the V6 saves!
Just dont let the insurance company find out.
As far back in 1989 i nearly fell foul of something similar - I was living and working in Newall Green / Wythenshawe Manchester (the only place I have ever seen a burnt out police car) but still had the car insured as if i was living at my parents (rural Lancashire). The Fiesta I had was stolen, so of course i reported it to the local police (Wythenshaw) - the insurers were unconvinced about why it had been stolen from outside the nurses home at about 2 - 5 am when I stated i still lived in Freckleton. I just got away with it as I had some bills all addressed to my parents house. If the insurers had contacted the hospital though they would have found that i had been renting for nearly 3 years in one of the dodgey-est bits of Manchester - and I am sure my premium for a non alarmed car parked in an unlit area of Newall Green would have been twice what I paid, and I am sure they would not have paid up on my claim.

not really a problem, as the car will stay at my parents (garaged) and i will only use it in the summer (and then i will pick it up from my parents and leave the 2.1 with them (there so close its not a problem to walk if i cant be botherd to start the 2.1). My day to day car will be the 2.1 which will be registerd at my address by me. Have you tryed running a V6 as a daily drive? it makes the money for insurence look cheep lol.

When I was thinkin about changing a car a few months ago I was quoted:
£450 fully comp, 10,000 miles p/a, garaged on a 1989 BMW 320i 2dr.
Me, male, 22 years old, living in rural Powys.
Thought that was pretty good myself...then tried Xantia mark one td {1.9} on same terms and that came in well over £600?!?!
Do they actually pay any attention to insurace groups or are they completly meaningless.
Also was quoted £2/3,000 full comp, 10,000 miles on Fiat Coupe 16v!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm astounded at some of the prices some people are paying for insurance!
The most I've ever paid for insurance was £640 when I was 17 for TPFT on a 1.9 Diesel Talbot Horizon. Since then it's gone down and down. Now, as a 29yr old Engineer, no claims/convictions 7 years NCB and a low risk postcode, On a 405 1.9TD estate pay £250 Fully Comp. I also Insure a Talbot Express 2.5D van, £160 TPFT and a Modified Landrover on a limited Mileage policy. That one's quite special, as I only paid £102 for Fully comp last year. Madness really, as the Landrover would destroy anything it hits, and the insurance pay-out would be much bigger than the equivalent crash in the 405.
What amazes me is that my total insurance bill for THREE vehicles is significantly less than some people are paying for just the one. Maybe I won't grumble about the cost of insurance quite so much in the future!
