XANTIA INSURANCE (again) what do u pay?
I'm really interested to find out what people are paying for their Xantia insurance. Mine has just come up for renewal and I'm sick to be paying just short of £400 - half the car's value.
Try and keep replies concise!
So:
male, 29, single, nurse, 1 fault claim 2003(protected), 7yrs NCB, fairly high crime area (Romford-the shame) car as below, 5000mls p/a, no commuting, no protected NCB, no legal, no other extras, car parked on street.
More Than are cheapest at £395.

Male, 38, engineer, no convictions, 1 claim (2004), car parked on street, Shropshire. Last year's premium for the Xantia was £290 TPFT (Norwich Union, hadn't made the claim then!). I've just dug a '96 ford escort 1.6 out of a shed where it's been for the last 3 years (temporary - and free - replacement for my bent Xantia), I insured it yesterday - cost? £195 TPFT at Churchill with protected NCD. Go figure.

97 (mk1) Xantia TD VSX. Me: male, 30, married, no convictions, 8 years no claims, 20k miles pa. With wife on insurance, business use for both of us, FC, protected NCD, it was about £250 last year with elephant.co.uk Due in a few weeks, so we'll see what that brings!
I understand that MK II Xantias are more expensive to insure due to more expensive body coloured bumpers. HDi 110 is about group 14 as well, so not looking forward to paying out for that when I can afford one!

It might be cheaper, but if you're the main driver and you name her as the main driver its illegal too.

Male, 31, Mid-risk postcode, Xantia TD VSX, '94M. 6 years NCB, protected. No claims or convictions (less than 7 years, anyway...). 12k p.a., self and wife, £295 - Norwich Onion Direct. Their renewal quote was £555; had a very small haggle (told them the Elephant/etc quotes of £305-320), and they dropped it to keep my business. I then got a £50 loyalty cheque 2 months later as well! I think their current offer is 14 months instead of 12 for the same money...15% saving
