I had to laugh this morning.

We had about a quarter of an inch of snow last night.

Our road is on a very slight gradient.

We are about 50 metres from a school.

Between 8:45 and 9:15 I counted no less than 38 cars failing to manage it up the hill. The bin lorries and double decker bus managed just fine though.

I stopped counting when the lady in the Range Rover Evoque who had got herself totally stuck was sliding ever closer to our cars. Then went and towed her off the pavement and up the hill. With the Xantia, with its pretty knackered front tyres). The look on her face was priceless. No matter what you're in, on ice you can't just Clarkson your way out of trouble.

...the 26" wheels wrapped in racing slicks (three now nicely, probably fatally, kerbed) probably weren't helping.

Really missed a trick though...totally should have used the Skoda! That really would have embarrassed her.

Really, really stupid thing is that they live literally a five minute walk away...must take them longer to get the kids into and out of the child seats than it would to walk!

My boss at Aberdeen airport used to boast that in the snow she would use her husbands cherokee and never fail to get to work. She came in the same road as me but not so far. I came across her one morning totally stuck. 22" rubber band tyres looked good but as soon as she stuck must have floored it and it dug in. Rope off her towbar onto front of the c5 and out she came. She was gobsmacked!!!! I left her the rope and drove away into work. She didn't make it in for the next 3 days. I did lol
