Dont forget to pack your new bearings completely full of marine grease (also sold as "propshaft grease") its specifically designed to withstand moisture even submerged in salt water. It will prolong the life of the bearings significantly compare to the original grease that I suspect it's designed to NOT keep the bearings alive for much longer then your cars warranty..

I've a 2007 C5 1.6
It's just after failing its MOT here in ireland.
Is there any kits I can order with all the bits in?

Erm, citronut passed away five years ago. However, I feel certain somebody with more knowledge than I will be able to advise you.

These are the parts from Citroen for the rear bearing Kit:

Item (3) on the diagram which includes items B, 4 & 71.
Citroen do an original OEM part: 374870 for £183.23
or they do a cheaper kit, part: 1623943380 priced at £74.84

All prices are in sterling and inclusive of UK VAT as of today, direct from Citroen.

Malcolm, check these are the right parts before you buy as the diagram/reply by Marc shows a 'Wheel bearing' (3) kit, whereas original post was for "rear arm bearing kits" which according to the diagram should be parts 7 , 8, 9 & 10 (Possibly 6 spacer tube?) at least.

Item (1) in the diagram at the bottom is for the complete rear suspension ARM which includes ALL the components highlighted:
I only mentioned the rear hub bearing which includes everything in item (3) in my original diagram as the complete kits are no longer available from Citroen given that some parts are now unavailable.

The complete kit part numbers (1) when available were:
(Left) 5175AP £458.82
(Right) 5175AQ £458.82

Any items not in Item (3) you may need, list them up here and I can tell you if they are available form Citroen.

If you’re doing the rear arm bearings, there was an excellent article showing exactly how to do the job in Car Mechanics magazine in the last couple of months.

Found it! very good will print out and give to my mechanic. I have it as a 6 page pdf if anyone wants it.

Mission Complete on drivers side, took me and a mate approx 3 hours, some butchery involved but got there in the end!

I must have disturbed the sensor on step 9 and 10 for the ride height, as I'm now riding lower on the back of car than front, I'd say about 2 inches lower!

Is this fixable easily?
Are there any pros and cons of leaving it low? I will tackle the passenger side soon. its not as bad but may as well get stuck into it at some stage also.

You may have knocked the rear height sensor on the rear axle. Be very wary of this and do not get under the car without a proper support - they have been known to drop instantly without notice and will crush you. The height correction can take place without the engine running and if you accidentally or otherwise move the height sensor it can drop.

There is a proper guide for measuring and adjusting the vehicle heights, but for small amounts needs Lexia.

Yeah so i will have it up on a lift, when i tackle the other side, is there anything i can do then to alter height then?
My mate doesnt have Lexia -
Maybe i should tackle other side first and then find someone with one,
And your saying i wont need it on lift when adjusting?

What is the process than happens when using Lexia, im just curious as to what happens here?

Initially the height correctors are positioned at factory on the axles (for 4 Cylinder engines) and these are clamped in position. Fine tuning is done electronically using Lexia after the specific measuring routine and calculations have been completed - then the values are entered into Diagbox and the system converts these internally to its own units and undertakes height correction. Diagbox can also show the actual height values on each axis against the reference values, so you can check if they are within the tolerance.

I would suggest you do the other side first and then see where you are at.

Adjustment should only ever be undertaken on the ground on a flat surface with the tyres correctly inflated (the ARB clamp would be adjusted if needed from under the pit). But you really need to look at it the other way round - complete your repair work first, then you should check the height reference values in Diagbox and see how much they are out. If it is well out of range, then the clamp on the ARB will need finely adjusting to get it into range, then the fine tuning is done using Diagbox.

Yes, defo will preform the passenger side rear arm bearings kit before I get the height corrected. Thanks for the explanation.

Are there any pros or cons in driving around in the mean time with it not set correctly.

It depends how much out of alignment it is - as long as it's not too low or too high you should be fine until you can sort it.
