Re: Confessions of a Citroholic
Some bonkers pricing going on with starters...
Pug price is £210 new; £190 exchange.
GSF from £300 - £425
MrAuto £78 - £240
CP4L £60 (RTX!) to £273 (Bosch, exchange!)
ECP £99 (RTX) to £410 (Bosch, exchange)
New ones can be had on E-bay for £55 or so.
Probably just go with an e-bay one... only got to last a couple of years. Might check how much the local factors wants for one - re-man I expect.

Re: Confessions of a Citroholic
It's fine for me now, weird.
Not clearing the cache again, it's goofed up other sites I use, including my tax return. I knew I should've only done one device at a time. Why can't I just clear the fcf cache and leave the others alone?

Re: Confessions of a Citroholic
I forgot... it also needs a new windscreen; the NSR wheel bearing is little noisy (despite being replaced with the disc only last year); and the top mount on the NSR damper is knocking a bit (need to get another one from the breakers to fix that as I did for the OS when it finally (and noisily!) fell apart totally.

Re: Confessions of a Citroholic
£3,000 seems a lot for a car to me - & I'm looking for another Cadillac!
& I thought my C15 had problems - but then I resent spending money on any vehicle, even fripperies that entertain me, e.g. ICE, LED's, etc have to be bargain basement options.
Starter prices are, as you've found, all over the place. I found the best deal was at my local factors - but not as good as if I could've put it on a mate's a/c.

Re: Confessions of a Citroholic
Set off to check I could get the bolts out of the exhaust clamps this morning - which I did easily, so thought I might as well stick the new piece of exhaust on. Not too bad - the clamp over the subframe is awkward to say the least - and would be impossible without the proper exhaust pliers! Access to the starter is improved with it out the way, and I think with the vac tank out, it will be almost OK!
Bit of a quandry though.... it's starting to look quite rusty underneath; unsure how long it will be before Mr MOT pokes holes in it, so it may not be worth the time and effort doing the preventative maintenance (eg cambelt!)....

I'm shocked it's that rusty underneath Richard... My 07 207 is like new and immaculate underneath... I always believed that Pugs of that age really had the old rust-proofing sorted...

Re: Confessions of a Citroholic
Comes from living in Scotland - the C4 is similar! Quite noticeable surface rust all along the floor inside the 'chassis rails'. Actually one more MOT in Feb next year will put another 25k on it, so probably worth doing the belt! Thinking about sourcing my next cars from down south....

Re: Confessions of a Citroholic
Meant to add... despite this being the original 10 year / 130k mile section of exhaust it was spotless inside, no soot at all. Just goes to show what a good job the DPFs do when they are working properly!

That's impressive Richard, the mechanical bits must be in very good nick even if the body is starting to show a bit of age now...
Definitely worth looking after the car and getting at least one more MOT on it...

Re: Confessions of a Citroholic
Plumped for a £55 starter off e-bay... see how it goes. There were lots around that price; they can't all be bad. Can they!!??!!
Ideally I'd get 2 more MOTs on it before the tin worm gets it - that would put 40k on it, taking it to 170k, which would be more than I got out the Xantia. 15k / year cross country in Scotland does rather take its toll on cars though!
