It surely is!!! I'm delighted to be taking custody of her :D

Time to change my signature I believe ;)

Thanks Alasdair :) Looking forward to collecting her - a most worthy Activa and Gabriel replacement ;)

She'll be becoming my dedicated bike transporter...

My Activa is now up for grabs again... Plate will be sold separately unless a potential acquirer wants car and plate together...

No prices for either - open to offers from known good homes and people only.

I really hope you dont get any hassle trying to sell the activa this time Jim. And that when sold its to someone who understands that its an old car, and it will break and need repairs at some point, whether thats a week later or a year later. With old cars there is always going to be something to fix, espically on a citroen lol. That looks a nice wee early saxo. I thought for a start it was Alasdairs daffodill!

He is not having her !.....so I found her younger Sister Davie......again very dull and filthy.....a bit of TLC and a good dose of OCD will have it looking like an early S1 Saxo should

I'm now thinking of a name for the Saxo but it'll likely wait until I get to know her a bit...

Absolutely Davie!

It's only on offer to a true and known enthusiast who will give it a good home.

All the love for my Activa has gone and every time I look at it I wince and feel upset and hurt after what happened so on that basis it must go and be out of my sight as soon as possible. I know the love will never come back now... In fact it's now turned to hate

Also, I'm now no longer able to drive such a large car and enjoy the Activa bits - driving it at 45mph is not really what it was made for :(

If nobody wants the car it'll be scrapped... End of. I mean it. In fact it's my preferred option for a simple, quick and easy conclusion to the debacle.

The Saxo is a much better fit for me nowadays... I will give her lots of love and TLC and give her an excellent home :)

Seen as it's a cycling car I suggest Vuelta. Mostly because it'll be amusing hearing how people pronounce it, I actually don't know how it should be said.

That's a brilliant idea James :) I like it...

Vuelta is, I believe, pronounced 'wellta'... Or that's how Gary Imlach and Ned Boulting seem to pronounce it on ITV4 during their commentary...

It would be a shame to see a good activa scrapped Jim, but I understand how you feel. If I were closer to you I would take it away, get it tested then sell it for you, but im too far away. Is there a local car auction to you? If there is shove it into there, at least then theres a sporting chance of someone saving it, and its still utterly stress free for you, and you should get a few more quid for it, and theres absolutely no comeback on you. If anyone wanted just the numberplate it would have to be removed before the MOT runs out which I assume must be quite soon. My old activa has never been taxed and now will be out of MOT also, numbers are dwindling. I hope you get it sorted out for you soon and without any problems.

My attempt was slightly wrong then, I got the ta right. I'm sticking with Vuelta as my nomination. I know you didn't invite them but it's kind of irresistible to chip in.

It would be a shame to scrap the Activa Davie... I'm sure someone will take it and offer it a good home... As I say, I'm open to offers ;) I'm sure as heck not going to put it on eBay or any other sales sites - far too much stress :(

No idea if we have any auctions locally...

If you can't find a suitable buyer, you could try to donate it to a museum, I would think that there must be one who would want an Activa in their collection.

That's a good idea Mike... Worth looking into... The Haynes Museum has a display of red cars and currently lacks a red Activa ;)

Haynes museum may well go for that, with an activa being technologically advanced and rare.

Had an interesting 'mechanical' on my daily rider bike the other day...

The gear selection on the rear derailleur was becoming rather vague and woolly and in the end I could only get 9 of the 11 gears on offer...

Investigations revealed a very work and frayed selector cable at the shifter end...

This is allegedly a common problem on Ultegra systems and is blamed on the tight radii the cable takes to get to the shifter selector drum.

Cable replaced and the gearchange is now transformed...

The replacement was not easy as the majority of the cable runs inside the frame and some clever 'fishing' is needed...

The pictures show how badly the old cable had gone. It had almost failed...

Good job I caught it when I did as had that happened out on the road I'd have been reduced to one gear - top gear!

I wonder if coating the cable in Waxoyl might help cut down on the wear?
