 That made me giggle Simon!

I really wish the 207 was an electric car... It would be perfect if it was....

Today I shall be getting the 207 ready for an MOT and giving it a full service... Hoping to have an MOT on Friday if all goes well today...

Then back to cleaning and pampering the Activa :D

No idea about the images Simon.... Mike may have an answer in his role as guru of all things technical on here ;)

mickeymoon wrote:I got a local guy to do a full interior steam clean on it, £30 quid and it honestly came up like new, I was amazed but as you saw, it's pretty mint inside now. I got a bit of a discount so if you want me to get yours done, I'll bring it down and leave my 207 up there for brake discs :-p

I'm not giving in that easily Mickey! And to me £30 is a lot of money to pay - anyway , it's a challenge and you know how much I enjoy those ;)

Thanks for the offer :) I will politely decline at this juncture...

I'll be looking at the discs and pads on my 207 this morning as part of the MOT preparation and will be able to give you some pointers to doing yours ;)

That is a limitation of the phpBB forum software. There may be a fix for it available in the near future.

In the meantime, you can find the link to the original image and manually insert into the quote with [img] tags.

Thanks Mike, sorry, I did not see your reply before replying to Simon about it a little bit after

The Pug of Love is now fully serviced and ready for an MOT after it's had a pair of new front tyres..

Apart from that, all is good. The car is basically in excellent condition.

I've decided to keep her as given her interior condition - which does not bother me - and a big wheelarch denting scuff all down her right side which I'd forgotten about until I washed her, her value is basically a lot less than she's worth to the family as a spare car...

Also did a bit more cleaning both inside and out and with every bit done the better she's looking :)

If I keep at it I may even make the interior look fairly presentable...

The Activa is now fully ready for Sunday after some hard work with a chamois... She's looking quite stunning although I have a dilemma; her lacquer peel is getting very bad - it looks like she's having a competition with Gabriel to see who can peel the most and quickest

My dilemma is this: do I let her grow a patina or go for a full respray? I'm torn between the two :?

Even Gabriel saw a bit of chamois today. All three cars are looking good!

Bet my Scraptiva1 would win the lacquer peel battle hands down Jim.

Just washed her today and i can't even get all the green off !!

It's slowly creeping under the lacquer peel as well.

Saw that bizarre effect on mine yesterday

I've not bothered to polish it - no point now :(

I am in a quandary. Do I have her resprayed or allow her to fully peel and develop a patina as I'm allow Gabriel to develop?

If I do respray what colour? Original, Saxo deep buttercup yellow or Aegean blue metallic (the same colour as my Pug of Love)?

All thoughts gratefully appreciated :)

Go yellow Jim, you've dreamt of a yellow Activa as long as I can remember. Maybe just wrap it if the body's good and the paints bad.

I think she would be stunning in aegean blue, although changing the conour is a huge job. I think i would paint it even if not changing the colour, have the activa absolutely mint and gabriel with the patina.

Go for the paint on CGAT (if you can afford it!).

I think a wrap is a good thought James, as the underlying paint is OK - bar the peel...

It would save the big issue of solvents too... last time I had a bit of paintwork done I could not use the car for weeks due to lingering solvents

I think affording it would be the issue James... Lovely but very expensive I believe...

I would not wrap a car with a failed top coat unless it is ALL sanded off.........the wrap will lift, it needs sanding off before it is applied as there will be moisture in the colour coat.

A simple sanding and "same colour" would be the cheapest option.

Yes, I think that is what it'll end up being as I have other major expenses on the house coming up such as plumbing work, exterior painting, some new windows and a new front door...

The Pug of Love is now insured... £171 via LV... Very happy with that... Cheapest car I have to insure

LV allow you all of your NCB on all of your cars as long as you're sole driver on all and have a clean driving record...
