All in all yesterday was a good day. Quite a lot of cooking done. I baked a cake, knocked up some dough and got it proving ready for what was to come later. Also harvested some rhubarb from the garden, cooked that and made a pint of custard. All from scratch... I don't do ready-meals of any sort...

The dough was for pizza bases. The girls came round for the evening and we had a real laugh making the pizzas and all of us agreed they knock spots off the commercial ones, all of them. I think we've had our last Dominoes

I love my Wednesdays off and I really love cooking too. It's something I can do with very little drain on my energy and I find it's quite therapeutic :-D

Yes, I've had this, it got me puzzled at first

I'm hoping for better economy now as well Chris....

I'm also hoping I feel well enough to go and pre-MOT my V6 Xantia today... Yesterday has been stricken from the record. For me it simply didn't exist

I did pre-MOT the Xantia V6 and found nothing of concern except a possibly border-line flexi-hose. I shall present the car with a note to that effect and a spare one sitting on the seat. If they care to fit it then it saves me a job... Apart from that it should be OK.

Checked the other cars and all is good. The Activa rear ram is now completely leak-free so that means summer is nearly here. The Activa is doing a splendid job of being the daily driver and I'm enjoying it too :-D

Took the XM for a joy-ride this afternoon. So much better the brakes are no longer binding! The cruise control is good and in fact all is good, Climate is working well and aircon is keeping things nice and cool..

Joy-riding along with the CD player playing, a track came on called 'Take My Breath Away', a song most associated with the Pug 405 and burning cornfields - possibly the best car advert ever that one, second only to the Hundustan Ambassador turns into a Pug 206 with the help of an elephant one. Peugeot used to make good cars once and advertise them with some good adverts. Shame they do neither these days

Anyway, I digress. I couldn't hep thinking the song is also very appropriate to the XM. It's a car that still takes my breath away when I've not driven it for a few days...

An Activa as a daily driver, how very nice 8-) If only I did fewer miles.

Good luck with the V6's MOT :)

I do so few these days Chris. An average day sees me do a grand total of 12 miles. I don't even go shopping the days... Mr Tesco visits me in a tranny van...

Thanks Will, really enjoyed those...

I used to have a Pug 405 exactly like the one in the advert. Same Gris Silex... No scorch marks though...

I'm amazed that red 405 started at all.. Shows how important post-heating is on a TD...

And I wish Top Gear was still like that...

Bloody unreliable XMs  They can't be trusted. Just gone and moved mine to its weekday resting space and I find it's broken

The sodding bulb behind the gear indicator display has gone out

Great heap of steaming junk. Never had all this grief with a Xantia....

I'll have to have the bloody instrument panel out now

Still, good excuse and opportunity to fix the missing lines in the LH Display :D Every cloud and all that...

Speaking of which, just seen this LH Display repair guide posted in XM-L by the person behind the Citroen Technical Guide. Looks good. That special glue looks interesting...

Well, it could have been a lot worse  Maybe its taken a huff at the Activa being the chosen daily driver

The LH display fix is fiddly but well worth the effort :-D

Oh, come on Jim! You know that for any Citroen to work properly something has to go wrong, otherwise it doesn't know what to do. It's a bit like Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards! He said that his best ever jump was one where he fluffed the landing. As he put it, the jump was so good he didn't know what to do! Now you have got the cruise control working, the XM didn't know what to do so it got confused and sent too much voltage to the light bulb!

It only needs one little niggle to keep a Citroen happy. The trick is to accept and work around it.

Indeed :-D I forgot that is the law with any Citroen. Perhaps I'd better leave the bulb blown in order to ward off worse :)

You know that is the WFA way, NEVER fix it completely, it will only go one way from there.

Do i hear imminent gearbox failure?????

leave the bulb alone :P
