To be honest it's a sod to get in and out of whatever you're wearing in my experience. Being a practising contortionist definitely helps...

Gosh! A long time since I've updated...

All is well. My health is now stable but with great care and attention to keeping it that way. Still off all stimulants and that I reckon is the secret...

In the morning I swap my XM Prestige for an XM ES9 V6 :-D

After a check-over tomorrow afternoon I then plan to take a spin down to Somerset in the new XM and see if it's better on a journey than a V6 Xantia...

As soon as the new XM is with me I'll get some pictures up and a full report...

Both Xantias are going very well. V6 is firmly established as my daily driver and that won't change with the arrival of the new XM. She's strictly for pleasure and long trips as the Activa is strictly for fun...

Got some work coming up on both Xantias. the V6 badly needs new front discs and pads and the Activa needs her rear ram modifying to stop weeps in the cold... Apart from that, both are going very well indeed..

I'm sure the XM will be the subject of some attention in the coming weeks. She's good but I'm sure I can find some things that need doing!

I've been hankering after a V6 XM for a while Mike... I'm somewhat addicted to the V6 now...

The ES9 and HP20 combination I love to bits. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but it definitely is mine...

Yes, the Prestige is LPG'd. I'll miss that...

The V6 is not a lot more expensive to insure than the Prestige. It remains on a classic policy with Adrian Flux...

Ahh now it's the autobox I love Mike. I'm a real fan of them and nowadays I'd not consider another car unless it was an automatic...

I do understand though, talking to another owner of another V6 this evening the complaint was made that the autobox never seems to select the same gear he would if he had control of it.

I enjoy the manual box in the Activa and can see exactly what he's saying about gear selection. But for cruising and the daily grind an auto is unbeatable... A manual box is strictly for fun - as my Activa is...

Im looking forward to the pictures and your report of it Jim :-D

I've got to say, a household without an XM is getting to me at the moment, I might have to look at getting another sometime this year. :)

The combination of the ES9 and HP20 is a good one. I think it doesn't suit some cars, or some driving styles. I can imagine that it's very good in an XM , or a Xantia when you don't try to charge down country lanes.

Jim - many places doing special deals on LPG installations at the moment. I can get the Subaru done for £699 with a 55l tank.. Obviously 6 cyl is more, but it's all a lot, lot cheaper than it used to be. I don't suppose it's that much of a need for you if you only use it as a occasional car though.

Here's the first pictures of the new XM. I apologise they're not good but I'll try tomorrow to get some better ones...

I've had a very good look over her and found a few other small issues. Nothing major...

Cruise control not working. Common problem. Fix most likely known and easy....

Starter is occasionally intermittent. Common and known ES9 problem. Fix may involver installing a starter 'helper' relay.

Climate not working correctly. Blower stuck on half speed and uncontrollable. It's not the regulator but the signal to it. Lexia reports a fan control fault. Only looked briefly.

Tailgate central locking not working and lock barrel seized.

Gearbox display flashing. Lexia unable to access gearbox ECU and yet it works perfectly :?

The bulb behind the climate display blew this afternoon...

So there we go... A few jobs to keep me amused...

Not bad really...

Ah, its a HKV, a popular reg on XM's quite possibly a Citroen demo/press car when new.

Looks good that does Jim 8-)

I've had a malfunctioning boot lock on an XM too. Often the motor gets weak and can not operate against the think felt on the inside of the boot trim ... I replaced the actuator motor. That car also had a seized boot lock, plenty of freeing agent and working the key did the trick.

Not a bad list of jobs, it'll keep you busy for a short while 8-)

I took the XM for a good run to see dad in Somerset today.. Very happy indeed. The climate works as it should in that it regulates the temperature but just has the static fan speed problem. I'll look into it in due course...

On the way home from Somerset I popped in to see my old friend PavlosV6. He took these pictures...

His are the Picasso and blue Xantia which was my old original S1 V6. The red Xsara belongs to a neighbour...
