Also, Xm's seem to be growing on me. V6 XM anyone?

Another bumper crop Vince, excellent stuff :D

The Ami saloon is such a cool little car, you can't help loving it. It has a special charm all of its own 8) Just like the H Van really. There's something about them...

These pictures of great past Citroens bring into sharp relief just how sadly bland the current crop are (C6 and new C5 partially excepted maybe) but where has the design flair gone?

It's tragic to think we'll never again see the likes of these incredible works of styling genius again and will forever have to suffer bland euro-mush :cry:

It really is a tragedy...

Me too Toby :D They really do look (and are) very special.

V6 XM, yes, there are two sorts. The older ones with the "Douvrin" PRV (Peugeot Renault Volvo) 90 degree 3.0 V6 with the ZF 4HP18 autobox or the later XM with the ES9J4 60 degree V6 and ZF 4HP20 'box exactly as in the Xantia V6 and Pug 406 V6 :D

That is a very "minty" DS :D

In this months' "Citroenian" there is a small piece on the millionth DS. that one looked absolutely stunning in dark metallic gold 8)

Indeed, am I right in thinking the 90 degree was a 12v and the 60 degree a 24v?

Have to say, quite tempted by a V6 XM too but they do seem to be a bit rare

I love the Ami's - one car I actually regret not buying more than a DS or Sm
in fact!! The Ami like the GS is ignored and almost invisible now where every
single word ever written or shown focusses on the glamorous end of the
range. Actually, when was the last time anyone saw a 2CV on the road when
the streets were full of them 10 years ago?

The V6 Xm is quite a thing - I've been hooning about the countryside tonight
in my 24v and it's quite a thing... :twisted:

I honestly think that the XM and Xantia will be seen as design classics once they mature a little......if you look down the rear 3/4 angle of a Xantia or XM, they exude design not seen on other cars of their class....

The 90 degree 24v was available ONLY on the series 1; the original cars
89-94 both 12v and 24v basically shared the essence of the same 90
unit. There were manual box cars as a no cost option on the 12v but
EVERY 24v was a manual.

The general feeling is the 24v'ers were such a poor seller in the UK only a
handful were sold and fewer still survive and the 12v'ers were basically 90%
autos and we all know what happens to ZF autoboxes so the bigmotor
petrol Xm's are getting rarer by the week. Sure, there were a load of 2.0i's
in 2.0i 8v and 16v and 8v turbo'd form and there were a diesels in 2.1 and
2.5. Very distinctive cars and bags more character than the loveable Xantia!

Get one now while you can, especially the early cars as the market seems
to be filling up now with down on their luck later s2's and I personally would
vouch for the series 1 over the s2 but any minute now PeterN is going to
say 2.1TD S2's are the answer... :lol:

I may even shortly be in a position where I have a few 2.0i available for
sale!! Mind, the v6's (especially the manual variety) aren't for sale...

Just one thing, the Xm strut tops do go boink like the Xantiae but do seem
a bit more robust!
