Right, I've now moved the router downstairs so it should be a nice easy swap to the Sky cable modem tomorrow between 8am and 1pm. Fingers crossed.
I've got to re-install the dyndns client so the IP gets updated when the network comes back online.

Re: Planned downtime in June
Right, we're now back online running on Sky's fibre network, so it will be interesting to see how it performs.
A quick speedtest at home shows 25Mbps down and 5.5Mbps up from the server (although the router claims to be connected at 35Mbps and 7Mbps) which on the download is 10 times faster than before and hte upload is 5.5 times faster.
So when Danielle is watching her Miss Marple on Netflix or I'm downloading TV episodes to watch, it shouldn't interfere with your access.
Also, anyone who was having to use a VPN to access the forum should now be able to access it directly.
Apart from the downtime of a couple of hours, it's gone very smoothly.
The next trial is if our IP address changes, how will the dns update software handle it, but from the looks of things the address shouldn't change more than a couple of times a year.

Same as always here, pretty much.
