Problem sending PMs

Post by MPV » 28 Sep 2012, 10:39

When I try to send a PM, it says sent, but the message stays in my Outbox and does not appear in my sent box. What am I doing wrong?

If its in the Outbox, its been sent but the recipient has not yet read it, when they do it will go to Sent Box.

You'll note you can probably edit them in the Outbox, but not in the Sentbox (as cannot edit after they have been read)

I've had the same Dean and <hides his head in shame> I don't know exactly what it means. I've had the same on Club-XM too so I guess somebody is trying to send us a hate-PM

PM Spammer perhaps ? Does seem to be a newer trend (one of some 'methods' I see during my other duties elsewhere) just register and mass PM people instead of posting.

Assume phpbb has something like this, failing that a query would remove said PM's from a certain member starter ID without too much trouble...

If you exceed the allotted number of PMs the system deletes the oldest ones as newer ones arrive.

That's very possible Andy  I don't know now if the board is set up to restrict the sending of PMs until a certain number of posts have been made. Maybe Steve or Xac will know what all this is about...

EDIT: and Steve does :-D =D>

Posted my reply before I'd finished  for some odd reason so added it all now.

Some boards do do that, you have to have x posts before you can use the PM system, typically a low number.

I have encountered it a couple of times in the recent past, when lots of PMs have been received rapidly.

Re: the messages in outbox, I have six and one has been there for a year :)
