306 air con

Post by scfc_151 »

I took my car (306 2.0HDI 2001) for regassing (i bought it a week ago)
the mechanic told me it has a leak on the pipe that goes across the radiator. When i turn the aircon on the light comes on but no drop in revs etc. Is this usually the case if there is no gas/pressure?

What other checks can i do before taking it back so that it makes the mechanics life easier? Im a newcomer to air con

thanks

It sounds like a pipe associated with the condensor that is holed.
If that's the case, the safety switch on the receiver dryer will be open circuit due to lack of pressure, it does this to prevent damage to the system.
The pipe will have to be replaced as will the receiver dryer, the system evacuated using a vacuum pump and the entire thing regassed.
Shouldn't be an excessively expensive job.

thanks for the quick reply. I suspected that the system might shut down if there is a problem with pressure.

I just hope that there are no more pipes leaking when its all done. As soon as its sorted its getting the waxoil treatment or something like to stop anymore corrosion!
