BX Aircon refrigerant

Post by beano »

I would welcome some information on the new type of refrigerant and what if any components might need to be changed from the current set up I have on my 92 BX 1.7TZD.
The compressor is u/s so that would be an initial invetsment but i believe that the need stuff runs at a much higher pressure so what else might need to be changed to get the aircon running again.
If it is going to be a major outlay then the window is a reasonable altenative.

As far as I understand, the newer AC installations are completely different to the older ones. Much higher pressure is involved, so the entire system would have to be changed.

You do not need to change the compressor.
Just fit a new filter/receiver, new pag20 oil and renew all o'ring seals.
Have a look at http://www.sanden.com/support/pdf/sd7servicemanual.pdf
section 19
Good luck
