Anyone know if its possible to convert my N reg. zx avantage to aircon, '[8D]cause I'm tired of driving to France every summer and sticking to the seats with warm air blowin in my face!

Like most things in life, it will be posible if you are willing to pay for the priveledge.
However, the problem you have is that I believe Citroen only supplied aircon as an optional extra on 2.0 16V ZX's from new. Therefore should you be lucky enough to find such a vehicle its engine related parts are very likely to be different from yours.
The only other route is to have it fitted by an aircon specialist, the cost will be well in excess £1000, and more than likely starting around £1500. Hmmm, best buy a 97 onwards Xantia.

Hi, thanks for the advice but would a 1.9i petrol fit a 1.9 diesel.

First you will need an aluminium sump from either diesel or petrol xud engine to mount the compressor.
The heater c/w evaporator will be either diesel or petrol.
The condensor will probably be different between the two because the radiators will be different size'es (???)
It is because of this that the condensor will probably have different fixtures. So if you find a petrol version you will probably have to make up brackets to fit on a diesel.
The drier will be the same. Note this will have to be renewed in any case.
Take the 4 pipes/hoses and be careful not to break/damage any.
Last take all the switches and relays etc.
In my case I took the bits from a BX 16v petrol and fitted them into my TZD Turbo diesel.
So if you can find either a petrol or diesel equipped with A/C then take it
