Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Well, the TD has its new clutch, EBC @ £55 all in. Slightly heavy but smooth and works fine, glad to have that done. Took 3 hours to refit, and 1.5 hours to remove. I think thats about as good as i can do alone..

Silly question now.. I may be able to do any number of tough jobs on cars, but i am buggered if I can get to my pollen filter on my '99...

i'm on gsf site now ok, and i'm looking to buy an accumulator sphere for my xantia, dilemma is... £19.50 for a replacement, who makes the replacement part? or £42 for a genuine one (and who makes this too?), is it worth the £22.50 more for a genuine part?

and eurocarparts have it for £19.58, for a IFHS/ALKO branded one.

The square section seals seem to work better than the O ring type, and you can pop them into the register where they sit before screwing the sphere on (hand tight)

The new levys are going to be based on emissions per KM.

Is there an easy way of checking and adjusting the ride height of a xantia that doesn't involve lots of jacking up, adjusting, dropping down and re measuring?
I assume the ride height is adjusted by the height corrector linkage on the anti role bar?

I have enough jacks, ramps and axle stands to get the whole car of the groundif this makes it...

It wasn't the plastic link i replaced. It was the metal link that connects the plastic link to the anti-role bar. The plastic link survived the extreme speed bumps but I replaced it anyway

Hi All,

I have just found out my Citroen Xantia 2.0 HDi Estate needs new spheres.
I have had 3 Xantias before BUT this is the first that I have had susp problems. Can someone point me to a 'foo-proof' guide to changing the front spheres.

hi

ive just bought some roof bars off e-bay to carry my kayak this summer.

They are meant to be for the five door type (they have not arrived yet) i was just wondering how they attach to the car - i puled down the rubber door seals and there are no fixing holes for a bolt or anything??

do they just have part that reaches into the door jam and...

Do I really need to remove the hub (and more importantly the tight driveshaft nut!) from the ZX so that I can replace the damper and lower control arm?

It seems to me that I should be able to remove the hub from the damper, then replace damper, then separate the balljoint from control arm.

Uinless I've missed something vital?

Hello everyone, I recently had cause to remove my radio from my Xantia. I have now put it back in with the correct code and all seemed well, however there is no volume, no matter what I do there is nothing coming from the speakers. To make things worse the lcd display was already difficult to read as it has broken up and only displays some of it...

i've had my xantia for nearly 3 weeks now, and i 'feel' the turbo maybe be on it's way out, or not pulling so well, it also whistles a little. Are turbo failures a common thing on the xantia 2.1? Is it such a big deal?

OR could it be that the ECU adapts and has lowered the boost pressure for some reason? Is this a possibility?

Strange question, but my Berlingo 1.9D is the first diesel i've owned. Have read on here of people getting mega-mileage 250K from this type of engine (XUD) but is this the norm? I expect to be doing high mileage in mine this year 25-30K, and cant afford to replace the vehicle, so has anybody any tips about squeezing high mileages from these...

Hi does anyone know if the ELM323 OBD2 Diagnostic Interface will work with a Citroen C5 2.0 as it would be great as I've just seen this on ebay

Or has anyone got any clues as to any other tool that can be used to check and reste the warning lights as I hate useing the Dealer (You never seem to lean anything)

In a word yes! The noise you may be hearing could be due to when the wheel was removed/replaced previously the ring inside the wheel to control the stereo/airbag was not aligned correctly.
Remove the airbag, undo the two torx bolts behind the wheel then gently ease the airbag away from the wheel and tease off the electrical connection. Then look...

car is 1996 xantia with IR two button remote locking

My current remote had stopped working. So ive brought a new one. Both the light on the side and the front light up brightly so the new remote is fine. Also i think the receiver is ok as the old remote worked fine, before it went haywire.

Quick update: its working now :D

I did the above again, the only difference being the plip was now touching the dome, and I aimed from the front of the dome.

central locking, alarm and deadlocks all great now, before someone says no the alarm (car alarm that is) does not go off at 3am. :)

I've had a hunt around for some new std rear shocks but can't find any so I thought this may be an option.

A chap in my area who used to rally 205gti's and break loads of Visa gti's for parts because they were cheap, set his own business up a few years ago and sells cheap genuine parts plus sports parts for Citroen and Peugeot he bought years ago a lot of spax rear shocks for the Visa gti.

The oil filler plug I assume is on the main body of the compressor.

I will get some photo's and post same on forum for you to look at and comfirm it is correct.

With regards to spin comp over, again I assume you can check for any metal shavings in the oil of my damaged comp to see if system would have been...

Hi again, glad to be back but it took some finding, where've you been. When did the forum split from GSF? Anyways, i'm after a new set of tyres for my 95 1.9TD SX Xantia. Currently on 185/65/15s on Activa alloys which look a little naff so wondering this time around i'm thinking i'll go a little lower, maybe 195/55/15 so what's a good tyre these...

I have developed a drip apparently from the water pump body. (The drip is actually appearing at the bottom rear end of the plastic timing belt cover).

It is not worth changing the water pump, does any body have a view on whether this type of leak gets worse suddenley or does it just settle down to a permanent weep.

My bosch filter housing on my hdi xantia has started to make a whistling noise when started, after a few miles of driving the noise disappears, if i place my hand over the top of the housing the noise stops. Is there anything i should worry about or check. Great forum, very helpful. :lol:

I have a Xantia Hatch which I am looking to change for an estate. I am interested in what length of load we can fit in the estates. I fit wardrobe doors and they can be up to 8ft long. Probably too long for an XM estae but how long can we fit in? would also consider a 406 estate

Have removed the passenger seat of the Xantia to carry long items.
There is one plug to do with, I think, sensing a passenger for the retracting belt.
Nothing went wrong, no warning lights, no complications, as if nothing had been done.

I've got my first problem with the Xantia (1.8 16v) - it's ticking like mad and cutting out.
On start-up, it idles for about two seconds, then the revs drop and it stalls as the suspension settles itself. The car ticks about three times a second when cold. The engine can only keep going if revved up, otherwise it fluctuates between idle and amost...

Eventually got this sorted by Citroen specialists Citraulix, in Bradford. I thought the idle stepper motor was the problem (the car still failed to idle properly with the sensor disconnected), but Citraulix replaced the MAP sensor, and all is well. They charged £29 for a second-hand sensor.

Hi all,

Just a quick query, I have a ’97 SX TD Estate which has had a problem with a leaky boot.

Hi All,
Has anybody heard of the wiring loom in a 2001 Citroen C5 2.2 HDI catching fire/smouldering in the engine bay.

Only it has done exactly that in my dads car.

He is still waiting (2 weeks so far) for the wiring loom to be sent over from France as apparently they are not stocked in the UK as they should never need replacing.

Any advice or...

I hope to fit a proper power supply for the sat-nav to my 52 plate C5 2.2hdi bypassing the wire hanging out of the cigar socket. I intend to use the proper kit from Navman because I am getting feb up with the wire trailing accross the dash.
My question is easy (I hope) as this thing is multiplexed is there any problem in splicing into a live wire,...

Is it a mappable ECU? by that I mean can you remap it to suit the engine?
We used to have a MG Meastro that did, I can't remeber all the steps but it was something like:
you held it at 2k rpm or something and that started the remap, you then rose the revs to 3k & held it there for 10 secs then back to 1k then to the redline, then went for a drive...

I was in Halfords today looking at oil, the choice is silly, first you need to decide mineral or synthetic, then the grade, then whether to go for quality or halfords brand. My guess was Halfords brand, (regular oil changes with ok oil will do me), but synthetic or mineral? I've heard mineral is good, but i have a turbo to cool too, so maybe...

Last night my girlfriends C3 died, as in turned its ignition off and lit up the battery light, it then restarted about 20 seconds later. During this period the steering still felt normal, but no idea what the gauges were doing (she was keeping an eye on the two drunks in the back :oops: )

Hi

Has anybody got any views or experience on the reuse of cyl head bolts - I'm changing the head gasket on a 1.9 td Xantia and I was supprised to read in the manual (Haynes) that I can reuse the head bolts if they haven't stretched passed a specified length - I don't want to spend £20 if its not neccessary but feel it might end up a false...

I know that the Activa has a third electrovalve, so it looks like the ECUs are different.

Hi, I've got a 98 2.1TD Xantia (Hydractive II), now I was 'excercising' the suspension... putting it up, then down, then back to the middle, but upon going from bottom to the middle i heard a squeeling/whinning noise (me thinks not a belt) coming from what I think to be the hydraulic pump. Is this a bad sign?

Also, how is it suposed to go...

Now that we've got some cold weather, the power steering pump on my C5 2.2HDI is very noisy when the car is started from cold, from about 1 degree it is noticable, and when it's colder it seems to be noisier. This is at idle with the steering centred, noise rises with revs and gets noisier when the pump is under load.

This lasts until the engine...

Hi All.. I am trying to get a friends diesel LandRover S3 working, after I replaced the head..

having no luck.
Glow plugs seem ok (3 do anyway)

fuel appears at the injectors, (although not in the quantity/pressure i would have expected)

The fuel smells more like turps or paraffin (it is Definately diesel but has been in the tank for 2-3 years)...

Sorry to bring this up again - I have checked the reistances via the multi pin plug with info from the forum and it appears all sensors are ok as reading over 1000 for each of the circuits - is there any other electrical fault that i can check for before I start messing about with the system - can I confirm the ABS light only refers to the ABS...

How much should i pay for a xantia silencer? ive just paid £60 supplied and fitted with the usual 2-year warranty. Is there any technique to differentiate between a good and a bad quality one?

They usually go at the junction with the pipe, and can be 'permanently' repaired with a steel sleeve, fibreglass mat and Leakfix or similar (not exhaust putty, but the polyester stuff - it doesn't get too hot that far back). I did one which lasted for three years until I sold the car.

I ran a lucas pumped XUD in a rover 418 on close to 100% SVO without any problem. This was summer mind! People would overtake just to get away from the smell!

I did however wreck my xantia's lucas injection pump with approx 1/3 veg. The seals went and fuel would ooze out of base of the accelerator lever.

So when did radio connectors become standard?, or was i just lucky?

I brought a cheap radio € 80 for my Xantia (it plays MP3 via CD, SD Mem card or USB Mem Stick. I all so went out and bought a load of spade connectors and some cable (just to be prepared)
The new radio had two big connector blocks on it so i thought i would be there ages...

It has done 145000 with a full history.Sometimes when you try and start it, it nearly starts ,then takes five goes to start it, eventually starting with a puff of white smoke and very rough. I've just had the same problem with my Xantia, the problem was, as AndersDK said in previous post, air was getting into the system via a small hole in the fuel return pipe, once this was renewed it starts as it use to do, 1st time every time.
