Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Hi... Just wondering if anyone is available for a reasonable price to come and diagnose the fault on my C5 2.0 hdi 2006 model....
The high pressure pump is not pumping anything out?
Hand primer on this model and not an intank fuel pump...
Changed filter after Rac said it was blocked.... Still the same.. Doesn't even fire up off easystart?...

Hi lads,
i tried posting this before but i didn't have time to check back I'm just having a problem with my 2003 c5 estate boot switch for raising and lowering the rear of the car for loading and unloading I've tried replacing the relay but still nothing no faults on lexia either.any suggestions 8-[

Left the car standing for a few weeks, battery flat, can't open the bonnet. The bonnet pull has got some resistance but it only feels as though it is against a spring it certainly isn't releasing. Can anyone help me get in without destroying the front of the car. It's a Mk1.

Just a warning regarding airbags being sold on ebay as genuine - with potentially disastrous results if these were to go off. It features on BBC news today - the investigation showed pictures in the states where, when activated, they blew up with debris and plastic firing into the face!

2002 C5 HDI 2.2 I'm looking for the correct torque setting for the pipe that goes from the high pressure pump to the fuel rail, (the small U shaped metal pipe) many thanks!

Doesn't specify the 2.2 engine in the Haynes book but the 2.0. 16 valve is 25Nm or 18lbs/ft. I just pull them up until they feel right. :wink:

You may remember a while back that Mandrake and I tried to change a ball joint on his Xantia - but all we succeeded in doing was mullering the castellations on the joint with his electric impact driver (hub on the car). It didn't have detectable play in it, but there is a clonk suggestive of play in it somewhere, so it may have to come...

HI anybody tell me why my 2003 hpi c5 sometimes sounds like a diesel if I go over 5000 rev it sounds normal on tick over but comes back again the engine runs fine apart from a misfire sometimes and a stutter under 2000 revs under load thanks Andy

It's the variable valve timing.
On tickover the Dephaser moves the cam a few degrees . when the car is put in gear and under load, the cam moves position and the valve position changes. The dephasers get clogged or seize and when the engine is idling the valve position is not in the correct position. Been running my Hpi for 7 years with this...

Hello all, which is the best model of the LEXIA reader for the C5 II? To date I have had no luck in getting my car started. I have replaced the fuel filter and removed the pump, which works fine. The next step is to perhaps invest in a reader, hence my question. however I have no experience with this type of instrument. Are they user friendly?...

hi everyone, it was destined to be..

I am now the new owner of a C5 X7 - a wihte auto 2.0 HDI 160HP..

but of course it is broken.. how broke remains to be seen..
The car suffered fomr low oil pressure with the previous owner (Simon, I will direct him to this post in due course) and hasn't ran since..
I have done an initial lexia session on it...

BSI reset with a FULL battery : Log on Lexia, Clear all faults. BSI reset then a 1/2hour drive: then log on again and see what you have fault wise.

Wifey's new (to her) 2005 C5 II VTR 2.0-litre petrol is freezing her out.

It is fitted with the bi-zone climate control and the driver's side started blowing cold air only today, regardless of the temperature setting. The passenger side is working fine. The air distribution flaps work on both sides with no problem.

Just out of interest around the immobilzer issues I am having with my Xanty TD, I have read that the stop solenoid area is armoured to keep it thief proof I presume. Why cant I just tap into the wiring to the armoured area to over ride the immobiliser? I realise that this cant be possible with all the posts about drilling off the armour etc but...

My 61 plate C4 1.6 HDi 92 has an occasional thing when it is idling. When it does it the engine note 'pulses' rather than its normal rate. When it does it it has no noticeable change in revs and no drop in performance and it can happen at any time other than on start up.

Anyone got any ideas?

I bought a Citroen Dispatch 1.9 2003 late last year. Cutting a long story short, it's in the garage and has been for a while and finally diagnosed as Head Gasket gone. It's also got a valve stuck and an injector gunked up. Matey in the garage has suggested that It may be cheaper to replace the engine. Any...

Get something with genuine FSH and you cant go far wrong! The key is regular and proper oil changes! The 1.9d being more basic then the TD or HDi should fare better then a HDi though, they have prooved a good unit, I had a HDi in a Xantia and its still going at 300,000 miles!!

DW8s common in the late 306s, least if its in a car you can hear it...

I recently posted on here about a knocking noise on the front of my 52 reg Xsara 110. I've now changed the drop links but it's made no difference (the old ones came off easily and looked newish so suspect they weren't that old).

I'm wondering now if this might be the lower ball joint(s). On inspection, I see that the rubber dust cover on the n/s...

I did find a massive tray at my last property! really handy and probably only costs a fiver somewhere.. its about the width of engine and box, and about 1 1/2 or 2 x that lengthwise..

it wont help if you didn't know the oil was going to come out though ;)

can anyone please tell me what sort of mileage I should get out of my front tyres, they are Hankook which were on when I bought the car, they have so far done 11,330 and wont last much longer, I sold tyres for over 30 years and got used to at least 30,000 on Fords etc. Budget tyres used to be ok on mileage but not so hot on grip, would I be...

I have found that if I drive into rain, the wipers start and the windows close.

If it is raining and I am driving and open a window, it closes again a few seconds later.

If only it would do it with the car parked - I frequently return to a car full of rainwater :(

Hi,

I have a 2000 1.9 Citroen relay and the heater does not work. The blower works fine but blows out cold air, under the bonnet I can see the pipes have been joined together to bypass the matrix.

There is evidence of some dry water in the foot well and so I've bought a new matrix but needs fitting.

Yes its the boost pressure sensor & i'll pretty much guarantee it was broken by someone not being careful when changing the air filter.

Hi all,

I've been to look at another C5 X7 and one of the little things that is wrong with it is a fault on the display for the climate control on the drivers side.
It's only got one pixel out (so if it was set at say 18 it would not show the bottom bit of the 8) but I know it would drive me potty if I bought the car.

Does anybody know what sort...

Hi All,

is the Service.Citroen site experiencing problems or have they just bombed me out. Each time I try to enter their site using the username and password that has always worked before, it just keeps coming up with a message saying that it is only reserved for automobile professionals! Is anyone else having the same problems???

as title - a friend has bought a 90bhp 206HDi - without intercooler

is it relatively easy to add one (and ofc which one?)

90hp is more than nippy enough for a small car like a 206. My Saxo only had 98 but they don't weigh much. of course they did the VTS with 120 and you can get a 206 GTI180 but you're adding more weight as well as power (the 180 is 7.5s to 60 and the VTS is the same with 60hp less!)

if you put more into suspension brakes and tyres it will outhandle...

I've not done any of these Citro boxes but in my experience most loss of drive problems on auto boxes are due one of the o rings in the clutches giving out and can often be fixed cheaply if you know how.

What usually happens is the o ring pops letting the pressure drop, the clutch overheats and burns off the lining material and if not stopped...

As the uber low miler Xantia has no history of a cambelt change, and appears to be on its original 18 year old spheres I will get them both changed!

Now I don't do cambelts myself.

I have a local frequently garage I trust to do all my standard work (not hydraulic stuff), is it a straight forward job that would take a couple of hours?

Friend wants to replace the locking bolts with normal ones and received the following which look slightly different. The ones i used to replace mine had thread in two places but the ones he received have thread only on the distal part. is it safe to use these?

After years of never darkening the doors of a garage other than to get the annual MOT, more often than not these days I come down on the side of getting it done .

An old post of mine on the subject of Working in a muddy puddle gives a clue as to why the just do it option has become less appealing....

Been playing up again for a couple of days. AA came out and had a go without success. Started it using easy start :shock: :shock: , but after a few hours it wouldn't start again. :x Thought it might be the HP fuel pump so I had it recovered to main dealers hoping the warranty would cover it :roll: . Unfortunately, it seems that the X7 under-bonnet...

I've done this the wrong way round. Decided I'd like a C5 estate, and focused on the facelift from circa 2005.

Having found one and just ironing out some bits, I thought it best to find out what they are actually like before committing. I'm looking at an estate with the 3ltr V6 & 6 speed auto box.

So what are they like to live with on a daily...

Hello everyone,
I bought a C5 2.2 hdi twin turbo exclusive. It is the last of the facelift older model. It is fully loaded! It has the CD stack under the drivers seat. It says on the sat nav screen ''please insert upgrade cd'' and on the bottom left hand side 2.13
I thought I would book it in with Citroen as all that works is the heater blower,...

I have 2 squeaky ac compressors. On one I've just put a new bearing in. It still squeaks just as bad. Could it be caused by no aircon gas in the system? Any other ideas? I've refitted a short belt to remove the compressor from the serpentine belt circuit and silence has returned.

So in my heavy handedness i managed to banana the track rod, it's only a small bend but its obviously played havoc with the steering. took it for a cheapy half price alignment hoping they could bend the rod back but alas, no dice. so it appears i need to replace the inner rod.

how hard is this to do on a drive with only hand tools? the biggest...

Been there done that.. 1st attempt was with a grinder.. but that wasn't ideal as Rory says theres not a lot of room.. I bought one of these for the 2nd attempt
Together with a bit of cycle inner tube for grip it worked quite well.

Hi i bottomed out my car very badly last week and every since its leaking oil everywhere!

The oil has squirted mid way up the engine so theres no way if knowing where its coming from at this point.... does anyone know what i might have jolted or damaged to take a closer look at?

If you're losing that much it shouldn't really be that hard to find where it's coming from really! The only headache really is that the undertray could well result in it landing on the ground nowhere near where it's actually leaking from.

So, yet again we have an issue with our C8 2.2 2006 mod.

I suppose i should start from the beginning, Last winter it cut out completely and showed no contact between any of the control units(brains. etc), turned out to be a broken wire and that was fixed.
This winter it started acting up with sporadical ABS/ESP and Airbag Faulty errors, coming...

hi all.
ive just brought a Citroen c8. usually i own german cars but this was too cheap to ignore.
its a 2003 Citroen c8 2.2 hdi.
im having a few issues to say the least!
im getting anti pollution fault come up on system.
the fault codes suggested no PATs fluid etc.
i brought PATs fluid and proceeded to raise the car up. as im tinkering around...

Has anyone owned both cars for extended periods of time who can give reliable comparison between the two?

I'm more interested in comfort and handling.... for example the MK1 has big comfy captains seats whilst from what i can tell from pictures the MK3 does not.

Of course the MK3 build quality and design trumps the MK1 but thats a different...

Hi this question relates to the mk1 C5, can anyone tell me the mechanical difference between the hm3 and hm3+ ?

I've read that the HM3+ has different comfort shpere's or something to that effect. Can anyone confirm this?

I can confirm that. I had a 2.2 with hydractive suspension but the fuel consumption was dreadful so I got a 2.0. but although I have fitted new spheres and rear suspension bearings it still doesn't ride as well as the 2.2 did and certainly not as well as the XM.
