So the question is, Neil - can you supply a picture of a Southern Vectis ? They're quite territorial but can be seen throughout the year :-)

Victoria Coren Mitchell on Only Connect last night described this series as "A masterpiece of Television" so I thought I would give it a try having missed out in 1996 when it first aired. Excellent start with episode 1 "1964" so worth a watch or a re-watch.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p ... -unindexed

It was the answer to these connections, via the actors who played the main parts in the drama. Also spotted "Genial Harry Grout" in the first episode "1964" so "Felix, Genial Harry Grout" could also have been a clue!

Recognised that, surprisingly.
I had no idea that it was first aired in '64 though, only saw it in the eighties.

Not first aired in 1964....that was the Title of the first episode I watched this morning. All about 1964. Future episodes are 1966, 1967, 1970, 1974, 1979, 1984, 1987 and 1995. The drama first hit the TV screens in 1996. Plenty of local interest, and the landscape was transformed into streets in the sky in many places, with the first inklings being covered in the the first episode. Intrigued to see where it goes so I'll not jump ahead.

I missed it on Christmas Eve, but it was repeated today. "The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse". While it appears to have been written for children, there was some VERY meaningful dialogue. Here are a few (I think I got them right).

"What do you want to be when you grow up?" asked the Mole. The Boy considered for a while. "Kind", he replied.

"Always remember, you are enough, just as you are", said the Horse to the Boy.

"Doing nothing with friends is never doing nothing", said the Boy.

I wish I had recorded it. If it is on again I will, as it is a VERY thought provoking 30 minute work of art.

I've just channel hopped onto C4+1 to find Guy Martin's Great Britiah Power Trip. An hour of looking into how we can go green. Enjoying and suggest its worth finding on catchup if wave/hydrogen/wind/ nuclear etc interests you! :-D

I am watching the World Snooker final (between Mark Selby and Luca Brecel), and during the interval they were talking about the 147 breaks. They played sections of the first 147 at The Crucible, which was by Cliff Thorburn (and he was commenting on it), and then he revealed something truly tragic. He phoned his pregnant wife (who was in Canada) afterwards to tell her about the 147, and she said she was sorry. He asked what she was sorry about, and she told him she had lost the baby. That brought tears to my eyes.

Me too James, they didn't ever mention it in those days. Brilliant final so far, Luca has some bottle! :-D

It looks like the Yesterday channel (on Freeview) has something lined up that will attract attention from some of the Forum members; "Retro Electro Workshop". Nothing (other than 'Coming Soon') to say when it will be airing.

Not a single flicker of recognition on POTD of the Captain Scarlet trivia. I didn't take much to it at the time, it was no Thunderbirds, but season 1 episode 1 was particularly noteworthy to understanding what it was on about.

The gist
Mars 2068 AD...

Currently on youtube here, just over 3 minutes for the "earthmen" to clumsily blow up Chez Mysteron assuming they were under attack, only for the advanced Mysterons to recreate and reinstate the matter obliterated, and 5 minutes in the Mysterons have spelled out their planned retaliation and retributions.
