807 2.2 HDI no start

Post by Humph7 »

I had the timing slip the other day and concluded that a follower had broken. I managed to get it running again with some ether spray so I could get it nice and hot in order to get the injectors out. Next day it would not turn with the starter motor. All I get is rythmic clicking off various relays. Also the yellow engine logo is lit. The key is recognised.
I need to get it going again. It is the 2007 16v model
Any ideas?

Pure guesswork without a diagnostic. Having the Engine Management Light on will more than likely indicate some fault codes are stored and that has to be the place to start. If you have Peugeot Planet 2000, get it hooked up and list the fault codes here. Short of retracing anything you physically did leading up to this and double checking you have connected up any wiring blocks, connectors you may have disturbed, it could be anything.

Sounds obvious I know but have you checked the battery?

Don't expect a lot from a generic OBD II reader - they won't provide much information - but if you can get any codes - list them here along with your VIN.

It's not the battery, though I did wonder.

I am not expert but could the timing have slipped a bit more, if it slipped as the engine stopped a valve could be hitting the piston and now the starter will not have the power to break the rocker, but the engine will just be locked , try turning engine with crankshaft pulley or put in gear and push, if using crankshaft it will not turn forward , turn backwards a bit then see if it stops at same point, if so that is most likely problem, if will not turn backwards as well most likely something has locked up like water pump, if engine turns by hand then check fault codes

Running an engine that you know the timing has jumped on sounds like a recipe for disaster
You might have more than just a broken rocker now #-o
