The pollen filter change won't affect the blower. The only thing you may have done is dislodged some of the wiring near the pollen filter.

There is a blower motor control unit located near the pollen filter that you may have moved that could of caused this.

The blower motor control unit is probably faulty then. They do fail and this is one of the symptoms. I would suspect this over the control panel to be honest. Do you have access to Diagbox for a test to see what, if any fault codes are showing?

Failing that pop up,or post your VIN and I’ll get you the part number.

Edited to state ‘Blower Motor Control Unit’

How does that work Marc? TBH I can't see how the motor can be faulty and give this symptom.

A motor can only go at the speed dictated by the control unit and this is supposedly set by the control panel. Into that mix you have to add the BSI and, if there's a separate one, a heating ECU. Something there has to be the problem surely?

The motor has the speed controller built-in which can fail.

Yes I should of said Blower Motor Control Module again Paul, that’s what I was talking about as I was carrying on from my previous post showing the module in the diagrams. On the X7 they are separate to the Motor unit itself, unlike the Xsara Picasso and others of that era that had the resistor units on the motor on some models.

I’ve edited the post to now add this bit on, thanks.
