2006 Citroen C5 audio system
I have just bought a 2006 Citroen C5 1.6HDi 16v VTR estate and I am trying to figure out if there is a way to hook up an aux connection or a bluetooth connection (I don't have an owners handbook). I really only want to be able to play audio from my phone or tablet and be able to change the volume, not concerned about being able to change tracks etc remotely.
Thanks
Thanks

Re: 2006 Citroen C5 audio system
Be warned that this head unit is not just a radio - it also interfaces with the car systems and configures certain car options and functions - so I do NOT recommend you remove it!
The models this early do not support any bluetooth or USB. This head unit does support a CD-Changer than can be used to play files from a third box like Yatour or similar, but will only mimic a CD-Changer. You will have to organise files into a max of 6 folders (CD1-6) and each folder can have a certain number of tracks in.
This unit is an older RD4 system - so Google Yatour and you will see some example options.
For further reference, you have the dual zone climate control system. Just keep it on AUTO and the temperature for the driver and passenger can be adjusted using the up and down temperature arrows on the relevant side. The system will do the rest.

Re: 2006 Citroen C5 audio system
I just recently added Aux-in to mine. Bought the cable off ebay for a few quid and drilled a hole in the trim surround to accept the jack socket. I then had to use Lexia diagnostics to enable the Aux-in port.

Re: 2006 Citroen C5 audio system
Where does the Yatour box connect to? Will I need to remove the head unit or is there already a connection for the cd changer somewhere?

The Yatour box connects to the connection within the Quadlock connector at the back of the head unit that is used for the CD-Changer. Have a look at this video: It is on a Peugeot, bu tthe same system.

Re: 2006 Citroen C5 audio system
Make sure you get the one for the RD4 system - you have a few options: - some of these also allow bluetooth from your phone to the Yatour box, SD / Card AUX etc. - there are various choices depending on what you want, if you don't want to drill holes in the dash.
Here is a link showing some of the units:

The Steering wheel controls will also work - just like changing tracks on a CD Changer.

Re: 2006 Citroen C5 audio system
You have me thinking now Marc, my car has the under seat plugs for a CD changer so I assume it's already plugged into the back of the head unit, could the Yatour device plug in there instead of into the head?

Re: 2006 Citroen C5 audio system
I'm not sure whether the CD Changer cable under the seat will be Male or Female Gibbo - I believe it has a Female to the back of the head Unit, but couldn't say for the changer end...

Re: 2006 Citroen C5 audio system
Ok, so that might be promising Gibbo - and another way of having the Yatour tucked away under the seat for the OP, assuming he doesn't have the CD-Changer already installed.
And on that point, if you do decide to go for this option, and DON'T already have the CD-Changer option, you will need to activate the function using Lexia or find somebody who has one near you, as it needs to be activated in the car's computer system first.

Re: 2006 Citroen C5 audio system
I have that connector under the seat but no CD changer.
In the Audio CD Preferences menu there is an option for "Activate CD Changer Repeat" - does that indicate that the CD-Changer option is already activated?

Re: 2006 Citroen C5 audio system
It is possible that the CD-Changer has been activated already, which will save you some time. Most of the C5s had the pre-wiring for the CD-Changer already - but if the unit was later added it just needed activating. The only way is to try it - but it's quite easy to configure with Lexia if needed.

Re: 2006 Citroen C5 audio system
Just looking at the photos on both Takshaka and Mike T posts, my head has the buttons set out differently. Where they have Band I have TEL, and where they have PTY I have BND, there is no PTY button.

Yes that will be a different head unit - the PTY function is shared with the TA Button top right.
This is the RT3 telematic unit Gibbo that I had on my MK II:

Re: 2006 Citroen C5 audio system
I have a Yatour box now but have yet to get it installed. The cd changer connection under the driver seat is unfortunately female (as is the yatour connection) so I can't use that unless it is possible to buy a male/female adapter for this type of connection. Does this type of connector have a name or is it unique to this device?
I have tried removing the head unit but don't seem to have the right tool... I assumed the 2 holes would lead to either phillips or flathead screws but I can't get purchase on them with either screwdriver and looking into the holes with a torch, they don't look like either type of screwhead (although it's really hard to see) Do I need a specialilst tool or am I going about removing the head unit the wrong way altogether?
