Q re: VCI drivers for Win10

Post by sonoramicommando »

Hi all,
I've just installed a Diagbox up to 7.57 on Win10 laptop - the laptop is a recent acquisition and I'm not too familiar with it.
I've had a Diagbox installed on WinXP before (a different laptop) and the laptop recognises when VCI is plugged in and it installs drivers for it. When checked with VCI interface checker, it comes up with communication ok then I get version of the firmware displayed etc.
Now, with the new laptop, there is no indication whether drivers are installed and interface checker tells me comm is KO (whatever that means) and won't tell me what version it is - I'm guessing the drivers are not installed and the laptop does not see the VCI.
How do I fix this?
Cheers

Be aware that Windows 10 is nor really recommended as yet - and if it is a 64 bit operating system version of Windows 10, you'll not be able to use Lexia or Peugeot Planet 2000 as those are 16 bit applications and unsupported on 64 Bit operating systems natively.

Best to stick with Windows 7 if you can.

Unfortunately I don't have Win 7 - I do have Win XP CD but as it is not supported so not keen on going that road, as the laptop won't be the dedicated Diagbox machine.
I've had two different laptops, both with WinXP - one worked fine (before it got stolen) but the other installed but just won't talk to the car.
It's just that I've read posts that say people had success with Win10, so thought perhaps they can possibly help.
cheers.

So can you confirm whether you have a 32 or 64 bit version of Win10 Operating System?

If you have a 32 bit system, ensure you allow all firewall requests during installation and don’t have any anti virus software on. Try plugging in the VCI USB cable into each USB port waiting and allowing any drivers to install, then remove the cable and repeat on each USB port. If you have a 64 bit system then the version of Diagbox you have will very likely not have the drivers for Windows 10. You can try updating to 7.65 which should have the drivers for the 32 bit system I believe.

ok I'll check that out first - the CD/DVD I have goes up to 7.57 only then I have another CD/DVD which has 8.xx updates.
I'll search for the next update(s) for 7.xx before going up to 8.xx - I've heard not to go higher updates unless have to.

Yes I have the update if you need them - just send me a private message - what vehicle are going to be using this on? Going to 7.65 and above will start to limit telecoding functions as they make the move over to remote configuration via PSA servers - which will limit what you can do. You don't want to have a live internet connection on whilst using Diagbox.

It would be worth just getting this update on to see if the drivers work and then you can always downgrade back to an earlier version.
