Renault Clio Maintenance Videos

Post by NewcastleFalcon »

Having just acquired a Clio..just so that I can find them when I need them..heres a thread which can be a receptacle for a few everyday maintenance videos.

The car has been inactive for a while so I expect to do disks and pads. This vid makes it look easy :-D and all done in about 7 minutes real time!

Regards Neil

PS of course very shiny parts and bolts not a hint of rust in sight. Thankfully there are a fair number of Clio II s in scrapyards so should you come across stripped caliper carrier bolt holes in the hub, you can get replacement parts without phoning your local Renault main dealer and finding out they dont stock caliper mounting bolts and each bolt cost over £5 on special order! This post on the "Scrapyards and Scrapyard Purchases" thread tells the tale....

Bit rough and ready but oil change, oil filter, air filter, and spark plugs simple stuff here, probably loads of better vids on this but useful enough.

Clio Washer Motor Replacement

Post by NewcastleFalcon »

Have successfully tried the process in the video above, and it is very much the easiest way to replace the washer motor.

I was just doing a clean up of months of leaf debris and the motor didn't need replacing. Only fiddly bit was the grommet. I used a screwdriver to prise it out and it pinged off out of sight. Managed to retrieve it though so all was well.

Martin makes some excellent maintenance/fixing videos

Renault Clio 2: ARB link Video

Post by NewcastleFalcon »

Replacing ARB Link

Few real world tips...
You may wish to undo the link with the 13mm socket and the Torx bit to hold it at the top end but for ARB links in the UK is is likely to be a fruitless excercise because of rust.
.
...cut the nut off...access is really pretty good.
don't waste time get your dremmel out with a metal cutting disc, or angle grinder if you are particularly adept at not cutting into anything else round about.

After market links will have all sorts of Torx sizes mine were T40's.

The really annoying bit is getting the through bolt to poke out enough from the bottom rubber bush to get the retaining self locking nut started. Why didnt they spec the bolt to be a few milimetres longer, would save a lot of faf.

Clio 2, front wheel bearing, ABS reluctor rings on driveshafts, rather than built into hub.
