Could you help with radio codes, please

Post by atr »

Hi
My Xantia was not in use for quite a period of time. last week I've started it again but the radio - Clarion model PU-2294B(D) is asking for the code. I've tried at a website www.radio-code.co.uk and was asked to punch in the radio's serial no. which is CL0402Y0338073 but was told that they can't provide Clarion's code.
can somebody tell me is there another source where I can find the code for it? I've asked the local Citroen dealer here in Israel but was told that since we are talking about quite an old (2001) vehicle, they can't help.
I hope that you will be able to bring back music to my ears.

Avi, I think the only way you will get into it now is by either recoding the eeprom code chip which usually means removing it and recoding with a reader and some software or replace the code chip from a unit you know the code of.

Lastly, you could just replace the unit with something else.

As far as I am aware there is no factory code or reset. Once the code has been programmed in, you will need to use that code or follow the steps to replace the code as per the video. Each failed attempt of course will increase the time you have to wait before the code entry can be attempted again.

Please Don't PM Me For Technical Help

A good search of any paperwork, handbooks and the like is often useful, I've found missing codes scribbled down by previous owners in many of the cars I've handled.

When that doesn't work there are specialists who can recode for you but as said you have to take the set out, I had a guy who did them for a tenner.

Despite what your dealer has told you, I believe that the Citroen factory will still have a record of the code.

That head unit does not look like the ones I remember seeing in late model UK market Xantias, which were Philips units.

Thanx to you all. from your comments I guess it will be easier to replace the radio. I wonder what was the big deal with this radio protction to begin with. one might think we are talking about some precious jewelry.

I think that the issue was not just the value of the radio, but thieves breaking into the car and removing it by force would do large amounts of damage to the car, so it suited insurance companies to make them not worth stealing.

If you remove the radio you may well find the code written on it somewhere - daft but not unknown.
