D8A engine?!?

Post by Bsim9751 »

Anyone know which cars used the D8A engine? I’m looking for a cam belt kit for a engine I’ve fitted to my van and want to make sure I get the right one, so, need to know where the engine came from.
Thanks

That`s the XUD9T engine, turbo with inter cooler. Very popular across the Peugeot/Citroen range from 1997 - 1999. Citroen ZX, Xsara, Jumpy. Peugeot 306,405,Expert. Take your pick.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure any 1.9 XUD kit will do turbo or no. From my experience they were all the same cambelt/tensioner/idler and water pump for the cars at least. Only stipulations I would apply is use a good quality name brand kit (Dayco/Gates etc belt, INA tensioner/Fahren pump for examples) as belt failure will usually ruin the cylinder head, do change the water pump, it's not worth chancing it for 25 quid while you're into it anyway. & finally consider replacing, or at least having a spare to hand, the lower water outlet housing that the bottom hose attaches to. These are plastic and go brittle over time, and it's easy to crack it or have it start leaking after you've worked in that area disturbing the hose etc.
