Another reason to get it properly diagnosed with Peugeot Planet 2000, in order to deterimine the fault codes and the issues. The engine fuse box won’t really have anything to do with putting the car into limp home mode. That will be down to the engine management ECU enabling a backup mode because of either a pollution fault or to protect the engine, until the fault is rectified.

Without a diagnostic, it will be expensive guesswork.

Are you getting the engine fuse box confused with the BSI?

The diagnostic port is on the BSI in the passenger compartment. If there is no power to the BSI then you won’t be able to use the remote control to unlock the doors, start the car etc.

I would check all the fuses and maxi fuses in the engine fuse box first, as one of these supplies power to the BSI.

Ok, I've had a look and because of the model changes in the 206 about this time, you could have 2 types of electronic architecture and several variations of fuses and fuse box types. The diagrams I have are not helpful as there are no descriptions for any of the Engine fuse box / BSI or older types, which doesn't help much. It's just because by the time they started centralising all the data, some early models dipped out of getting all the info on.

Having said that, this link may help you identify the type of engine fuse box and electronic box in the passenger compartment. It has photos and if you follow down, a legend for the fuses. I hope this helps you to identify the relevant fuses:

https://fusesdiagram.com/peugeot/fuses- ... t-206.html

As you can see there are lot of variations, but hopefully this will give you a few pointers to start with.

I can only suggest you recheck the fuses (especially the maxi fuses) and with a multimeter, not visually and all the wiring - especially the earths to the body. If you are sure you have fitted the correct replacement fuse box (check part numbers are identical), then it very likely has to be wiring / fuse related. Your best friend here is going to be a multimeter. If there is power at the engine fuse box, then check the connections to the BSI in the passenger cabin - as it may be that one that is faulty if there is no power to it and you can't run a diagnostic.

We have to assume your battery has been checked and is fully charged - if you have an old battery that is past service life that can be a problem.
